If you might get paint in your hair or on your face, then this simple garment might save you from hours of scrubbing in the shower. No one likes paint in their hair. This is made from 100% cotton, is stretchy enough for anyone's head, and the fabric is breathable, but had a faint odor out of the package, but can be hand washed in cold water. Very lightweight and re-usable.

The material is quite thin, and is almost see-through in quality. It will do the job fine however; I don't doubt it. It says it is machine washable, though this I question. I wonder how many cycles it could go through before the machine tears a hole through it. It's certainly not as thick as an automotive sock, however construction paints are not nearly as volatile as industrial paints, so this mask will do, and the value isn't bad either. This hood is VERY long. It will cover your entire neck and you'll still have a few inches to put under or over a collar. I don't exactly have the biggest head in the world, but nonetheless, it's a great fit. There is still room to fit a larger head or taller neck. A smaller head will fit fine as well. HDX advertises it to fit "most" sizes and I would agree with this statement.

HDX Spray Sock Hood
I spray a lot of oil based paints and it imperative that I have protection so I don't have to wash my hair and face with chemicals to get the paint off.
I give this item 4 stars because it is made to be disposed so it is not made of high quality material so you get a hood that is made of lower grade materials but still provides adequate protection. The main reason is so you can throw it away when it is gummed up with paint. It is an excellent value when compared to non disposable hoods.
The stretchable cotton knit pulls over the head to cover the mouth, nose and neck. I had a little trouble keeping it over my nose because my nose is so big. With a respirator, I shouldn't have a problem.
The quantity is one mask per pack.
For those who want to reuse the mask, it is machine washable, just be careful what you wash it with.

This simple spray protection hood is good enough to protect the hair and skin, right down to the base of the neck, from overspray. The only exposed area is around the eyes but the hood can be worn so it fits under the chin for use with a respirator. It’s a snug fit but comfortable. The quality is okay and designed for professionals who may well get through quite a few of these.
This review is on the HDX Protective Spray Sock headcover. The item provides basic protection to the head and neck while spraying paint. It also provides some protection from the sun and wind.. It is a very low tech and low quality solution. It works but there are some drawbacks.
First off the image on the package is deceiving. It shows a top that form fits the head. This is not the case. The product is a tube with a flat seam on the top. When wearing it there two points, like ears, that stick up above the head. Not a problem with function but could catch on something if the area one is working in has a low ceiling. Next is the stitching, very low quality. There was a section on the face cut-out where the thread was unraveling out of the package. Also the bottom seam has no stitching to prevent the fabric from unraveling.
What I found to be most troubling was the smell of the fabric. It has a very unpleasant chemical aroma. The instructions state the fabric can be pulled up to cover the nose but the smell of the fabric was so bad I couldn't do that. It is hand washable so maybe the smell can be washed out but with no overcast stitch on the bottom edge I think it might fall apart with one wash.
This is a low cost, throw away solution to getting basic protection where it covers. The cloth was cool and comfortable to wear, except for the smell.
This is a disposable "ski mask" to wear while painting. It smelled like formaldehyde. Of course, if you are a professional painter you probably will not notice. If you are a DIYer then get used to it ( for $2.50 ) or get a more expensive buff. It was comfortable to wear and did not get hot. Check out the pics to see it in more detail. MADE IN THE USA!
