Questions & Answers

What pollutants are filtered?

Asked by: Aaton
It only filters to requirements of NSF 42. This is cited on the label affixed to the filter itself. The packaging misleads customers by saying it filters to NSF 42 and 53 (like the actual GE filter), however if you read the print closely it cites a different filter model than in the package. NSF 42 is only the most basic filtering. I am returning mine because of purposefully misleading packaging.

Is it possible when replacing the water filter to interfere with the ice cube making process. My water filter works great but the ice cube maker hasn't worked since I replaced the water filter. The ice cube maker has been replaced but I still have the same problem. Only a very small amount of ice cubes are produced.

You may need to flush your main water line behind the refrigerator. By doing the following: Unplug the refrigerator and turn off the water valve. Disconnect the from the refrigerator, using a wrench. the supply tube is the one that connects to the water valve in the house plumbing. Point the free end of the tube -- the one you just disconnected -- into a bucket and turn on the water valve. Let the water run for about 10 seconds, then turn the valve off. Hook the supply tube back up to the refrigerator and tighten the connector with the wrench.

Hi does this replace the FMG-1? Does it work with General Electric model # GSE25GSHBCSS? You can answer either one of these it doesn't just have to be 1 since they're pretty much the same question (just being asked in different ways).
