It might have something to do with the flange fitting characteristics the new one appears to look smaller. I would have to see them fron the top. did you check for frigerator serial parts number and compare them to the new filter?
if it will not fit in from the arrow to arrow match up you have the wrong filter also compare the tops of both the old one and new one. I guess they could be mismarked
The filter is a granulated charcoal which absorbs most all the bacterial bad stuff. Think about the size and the normal use for potable water that’s not contaminated by sewage that this filter is made for originally. Now, if sewage has entered water lines, I would NOT use the fridge water or ice maker for a short period until the water system has been exchanged in normal use by your household and the community. (Think boil water order in this situation). By not using this filter (running water into fridge) until you feel the faucet water is clean again, you reduce the RISK of a contaminated water line. If you do let contaminated water enter the fridge, your filter should be changed in 1 month or less for safety reasons since you don’t want to give bacteria a chance to grow inside your system. Then change it again in 2 mths. Then return to normal schedule. You should also remove all the ice and flush out the fridge (when water is clean again)! So, yes it will help to keep you safe as I described, but because these filters are not cheap, I would boil water until the system is good again and NOT use the fridge water just yet. If you believe the fridge line is contaminated it would also be wise to open the fridge water line and add about a tablespoon of regular unscented bleach (with the filter removed) and flush your fridge system to disinfect all of it which is a pain because you still have to let the ice maker run through a full bucket to give it a chance to work. Then replace the filter when flushed out. Sorry if overly cautious, but bacterial infections are just not worth risking any filter of this nature, since it would be considered abnormal parameters for which it was designed! RH-Tx
Yes,it works perfect,it only takes a few minutes to install old one and reinstall new one!!
They match the FMA-1
This was my first time installing the water filter; it was easy to install.
I used these filters for years and never had a problem. I think there may be something wrong with your fridge. Call a repair man.
