This range hood worked great for my kitchen range hood exhaust project. The flap is effective in keeping birds out, and probably bugs too. Just in case, I installed a backdraft damper in line between the exhaust fan and this vent hood.
It may be helpful to add that I used a foam sealant on both sides of the wall. Since this Vent Hood includes a collar for inside the wall, I used extra sealant (just let it seep out as I pushed the collar tight against the wall), and cleaned around the edges to have an air-tight, waterproof installation. You also have the option to glue a piece of siding onto the flap to hide it or just paint it the siding color

I am installing a fan in a basement bathroom that has never been vented prior. I researched different types of vents; something adequate for the front of a house that wouldn't look like your typical dryer vent and this was perfect. Had to drill through the rim joist, but I'm happy with the final result. Was going to hide the vent with a flower box, but this is very inconspicuous.

Great Hide Away Vent. This vent just disappears into the outside of your house wall and nearly "vanishes" by painting the vent to match the color of your house siding.
Installation is simple by following the directions on the back of the packaging box.
Features:
-Paint-able
-Auto closing/opening vent
-Nail fins to attach to house siding
-All plastic
This will install easily with the following type of siding:
-Wood plank like paneling
-Shingles
Will require extra work and flashing to install with following type of siding;
-Stucco
-Plywood/Solid wood length paneling.
-Metal and Sheet metal
Vent is good for dryer and small exhaust usage.
Only concern is how well this vent will prevent animals (small rodents/ raccoons/ skunks/ rabbits/ etc;) from manipulating the opening and getting inside the vent.
There are no bars plastic or otherwise going across the opening (pic) to help keep animals from crawling in. The flap does close when no air is blowing through but some animals can and do manipulate flaps especially if they are looking to get out of the cold.
For the most part I expect the flap to work as intended but would still prefer some sort of bars across the opening.
Additional accessories i.e, nails/screws are NOT included. only comes with double sided tape to help hold the vent in place while attaching the vent with nails and covering with shingle/sidings/ flashing.

One of my outside vents is broken so I was very happy when this Hide A Vent arrived. The package includes one four inch round vent and one piece of double sided tape for optional siding application. The tools required(drill, level, hammer, 41/4 inch hole saw or jig saw, and four one and 1/4 inch toofing nails) and the instructions are on the outside of the box. How easy is that! Installation was easy. If you need more information there is an installation video on hideavent.com. This product has a one year warranty.

I am putting this on tomorrow,I would have done it the day i got it but wife has me busy with garden and yard work to make it look good once again ,This will not take me that long to install it because my other one is broken and wife will be very happy once it is done. I don't know why but it does not close completely...
I don't know why but it does not close completely when not in use. So during the winter, it takes COLD outside air in the dryer when not in use.

The vent flaps and bangs in the wind
The vent is constantly flapping and banging in the wind. Theres no restance to the flap mechanism so its easy for a gust to pick it up then slam it back down
