Answer

Hi, Chris - The critical measurement is the vertical rise from the top of the poly pipe to the specified max burial level notation on the vertical side. That's 30". There are no specifications as to the horizontal measurement from the center of the vertical tube to the poly end of the horizontal tube. That measurement is typically 30" +/- 1". Hope this helps. Thanks.

Can this be used for the under house gas line also in the crawl space ?

Asked by Mg November 17, 2020

Answer

Hi, Mg - No, Home Flex Underground (or any other PE gas pipe) cannot be used under any foundation that has a structure on it (home, carport, patio, barn, etc.) The line must end prior to going under the foundation. You can, however, transition to Home Flex CSST (corrugated stainless steel tubing) when entering or going under a structure (like a crawl space). Check out our Home Flex Design & Installation Manuals at http://homeflex.com/downloads/HOME-FLEX_Underground_Manual.pdf and http://homeflex.com/downloads/HOME-FLEX_Installation_Manual.pdf. If you have any other questions, please feel free to call me (Dave) at (661) 257-3923 x 1026 M-F 8a - 2:30p Pacific time. Thanks.

Does this kit come with the stiffeners that are inserted into the yellow tubing? If so, how many?

It comes with 4 stiffeners, 2 for each coupler. The couplers were each in their own package in the box and come with the required stiffeners. It looks like they took the individual parts and put them in a box as a kit.

That is the purpose of this product, right? I would consider a larger diameter if you are feeding the whole house. Maybe 3/4 or 1”? Follow code for bury depth below ground.

If you truly have 2+ PSI gas pressure, looks like it works. I would think you would need a regulator at the generator. If you search, you can find pipe sizing on the internet to verify. When I checked, the numbers for this looked slightly lower than what I found other places.

For me, I dug the trench and as I layed the pipe in the trench I just kicked a bit of dirt on it and it went easily. It didn't viciously try to re-coil itself have absolutely no idea how long it should be exposed to sunlight and would hate to offer any advice based solely on opinion (especially on propane line). Contact the manufacturer for definitive answer.

worked perfect for a 40' run to outdoor fire pit. No leaks after assembly, pressure test held 5psi for 24 hours. I recommend unraveling the pipe out in the yard for a couple hours before using it so it's easier to work with.

The IPS poly home flex gas line made things easy peezy and it saved me a lot of time and money for me as im a do it your self er and am not a plumber by no sense of the word . the home flex allowed me to be able to do it myself without hiring a plumber @ 75.00 an hour . i had lots of questions so i called home flex in northern calif. and talked to there manger and he explained to me the differences between the indoor vs the outdoor poly tube a some of the dos and donts and helped me decide more of what i needed . went to there web site and watched the safety videos and how to tutorials and filled out the info and received a certification for installations . i recommend anyone doing this to do so and make sure you pull a permit from the county you live in also check with the gas company on what there recommendations are . also make sure you call 811 call before you digg . i found out after buying 3/4 that i needed 1'' im just glad i didnt get it the ground and found out later i hope this was helpful Bill

You really need to fuss with this thing to get it to hold pressure. I installed 2 lines, one had a large leak that i eventually fixed with reseating the couplings, one had a very slow leak that i never got fixed. I verified that all other pipe fittings had no leak so it must have been these. I was hoping for an easy no brainer fitting, I don't think this one is it.

Hi Ironcore, Thank you for your feedback. We rely on this type of feedback coming in from the field in order to learn more about how and where our products are being used and what types of improvements we should make. I am surprised to hear that you had to "fuss with" the fitting to get a leak free installation. I am very interested in hearing more about your installation. Were our instructions easy for you to follow step by step? Did you fully tighten the fitting by hand and snug it with your pliers? Did you use the supplied insert? If possible, could you give us a call here at HOME-FLEX and provide some additional information? We are here M-F from 8-5 Pacific time. Our number is 661-257-3923. Ask for Jon ValenciaPipe
