About This Product

The IPS size Yellow Poly Gas Pipe Transition Fitting allows you to transition from MDPE Yellow Poly Gas Pipe to metal pipe. One end of this Transition Fitting is plain IPS poly gas pipe that will connect to your run of poly pipe using one of the HOME-FLEX Underground fittings such as the Coupler, Tee or Elbow. The other end of this Transition Fitting has steel male pipe threads that you can use to couple to metal gas pipe. Be sure to use an appropriate thread sealant on the pipe threads.

Highlights

  • Requires the HOME-FLEX Underground coupler to connect to your run of yellow poly gas pipe
  • Durable polyethylene construction to last for years to come
  • Epoxy coated
  • Standard MIP threads
  • Purpose-built for direct burial outside underground use only in accordance with your local plumbing / building codes.
  • HOME-FLEX Underground pipe and fittings should NEVER be used in a building and should NEVER be used under a foundation with a structure on it.
  • This transition fitting should be horizontal in the trench connected to the PE pipe. It should not be used with an elbow in a vertical position as a make-shift riser as yellow PE pipe should always be at or below code-mandated burial levels.
  • IAPMO UPC certified to ASTM F1973

Hello, regarding the Home Flex underground DR11 yellow gas piping. Can it be buried under a patio concrete slab WITH NO STRUCTURE on concrete slab? Remember, NO STRUCTURE built on concrete slab.

    Answer This Question

Hi Rick, Home Flex Underground poly gas pipe can be installed under a concrete patio. However, it must not be encased in concrete and must not be installed under a slab/patio on which there is a building / structure. Please see the link to the product’s installation manual for more details https://ipexna.com/en-us/resources/document-repository/home-flex-underground-system-design-installation-manual/

Hello, the transition piece is installed as is. You do not shorten it. The fitting (coupler, tee, elbow etc) can be fit directly to the PE end of the transition fitting.

Follow-up to my question about entering basement directly with this transition fitting or going above ground to transition to galv steel and back underground. (question subitted here 2 weeks ago). Yes, gas HAS been reduced to 1/2 PSI pressure.

          Answer This Question

Yes, the Home Flex Underground PE pipe can be converted to black iron pipe under ground and the black iron run through the basement wall so long as the HFU poly pipe remains outside the building and is at – or below – the minimum required burial depth.

This yellow pex has to be buried? Or can it be connected to the underside of the floor joist?
            ByJan 9, 2025
            1 Answer |
            Answer This Question

There are some important rules to follow when installing Home Flex Underground pipe: - do not install Home Flex Underground pipe above ground – it must always be buried to at least the depth required by your local building authority - do not install Home Flex Underground pipe inside or under buildings - do not encase Home Flex Underground products inside concrete There should never be an instance where Home Flex Underground pipe is connected to the underside of floor joists.

Can I use a 90° coupler in a poly to galvanized transition instead of a riser 90° riser?

              Answer This Question

Can this product be used to transition to a galvanized steel pipe and enter a basement directly or is it manditory to use a riser out of the ground, make the transition to steel then go back underground with steel to enter basement.

              Answer This Question

We would suggest that you show your plan to the building department in your area. We don’t know if the gas line you want to bring into the building via black iron pipe has been reduced in pressure through a regulator or not.

              By|May 4, 2026

Galvanized pipe is not allowed for natural gas service.

Poorest Rating. 0 Stars. I never received the product. It took me 2 attempts to get a refund, still waiting to see if that happens. The last 2 of these items that I ordered both were never delivered. Both times, I received emails saying delayed delivery. Then, item damaged and undeliverable, both times. I realize that it most likely is the fault of FedEx workers treating packages like trash, but I have since found a company to order these from, and have received them so far with no issues. Home Depot, please look into the reason behind all of the damaged, undeliverable items people order from you, or at the very least be prompt about issuing refunds when those products never reach the people who paid for them.

The threads on the transition were very poorly machined causing issues with sealing the connections
