Should this lay directly on top of the gas tubing, or should there be a layer of dirt between the two?
Hello, Please refer to third paragraph in section 4.2 Trenching of the installation manual to see the instructions about using tracer wire https://ipexna.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/install-guide-manual-usen-ipex-homeflex-underground.pdf You can place the tracer wire right on top / next to the PE pipe. You do not have to keep a layer of dirt between the two. However, please refer to your local building codes to see if there are any specific instructions on this.

Hi, Todd - Tracer wire goes in the trench on top of the PE pipe and is secured above ground next to the entrance and/or exit points of the gas line. It can be electrically traced with a meter to inform an equipment operator the path of the gas line so it can be avoided. It's a very important component of a safe installation.
