How do you shout it off if it is in the ground
    ByOct 12, 2024
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

This valve is designed as a stop and waste valve, meaning it shuts off the water supply and drains any remaining water in the line. If it's installed underground for your sprinkler system, you'll need a valve key to operate it. The valve key inserts into the top of the valve, which should be accessible above ground. Turning the key clockwise closes the valve and shuts off the water, while also opening the drain. Turning it counter-clockwise opens the valve and allows water to flow.

Can you advise me if this valve is threaded going into and out of the valve? The stop and waste I have currently has a leak.
    BySep 5, 2023
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

Yes, this valve has threaded connections both into and out of the valve. It is described as having 1 in. female NPT (National Pipe Thread) connections. This means the valve has internal threads that accept male pipe threads.

I just put this new valve on. i have not hooked my sprinkler line to it yet. it is connected to main line. it is off, but it is dripping from the bottom. is this normal?
    ByJun 28, 2023
    1 Answer |
    Answer This Question

This dripping issue isn't typical for a newly installed stop and waste valve. When the valve is in the off position, it should automatically drain any remaining water in the line on the non-pressure side, preventing drips. Since you haven't connected the sprinkler line yet, any dripping suggests a potential problem with the valve itself. Double-check the installation to ensure all connections are tight and that the valve is fully closed. If the dripping persists, it's best to contact Homewerks customer service at 1-877-319-3757 for warranty assistance.

Yes, this can be buried underground. It is designed for underground use and can function as the main shutoff for your sprinkler system. It automatically drains when it is off to prevent water buildup and potential damage during freezing temperatures.

      Defective from factory
The the key retaining screw is drilled and tapped through the valve body making it impossible to turn this valve off after installation. For the cost of this valve I should not have to disassemble and machine the valve to make it work. I'm only doing so out of desperation.

The key break off in the valve
This valve works fine right up until the key breaks off and you have to dig it up again. I got a year out of the valve. While the body of the valve is brass, the key appears to be made of cast iron with a chrome finish. The key stem broke off where it enters the valve. The broken stem is corroded into the valve and can't be removed. I will have to buy a new valve. I read a review on the 3/4" model where the key broke off too. Perhaps this valve would work better in a nice dry area without any moisture to corrode the key stem. Otherwise, I wouldn't recommend using it.

DON'T BUY! This valve is Sub Standard!!
DON'T BUY IT!! These valves are very poorly made and will leak! Purchased one and installed and it leaked immediately from the waste hole, when closed! Second one same thing. Purchased a quality one from an irrigation supply house, works like it should. Thank goodness we tested everything before filling in the hole.

This valve was just as advertised. Good quality and worked well when installed. It is important to follow the manufacturer’s directions to open and close the valve a number of times before installing to ensure that it operates correctly.
