Not a shill; no association. My home has two short-haired cats and one long-haired human. It’s a one-bed apartment. This wad of hair is what this vac got—even after I went over most of the place with two other vacs. 13x9x4 inches. Battery lasted just long enough to hit everything.

Poor performance compared to older model
I owned an older model of the Hoover Linx Cordless for at least 8 years (on left in photo). It was GREAT! We are an older couple with 3 cats and concrete floors, so it was perfect for our needs. The handle finally started to be really wobbly where it connects to the motor section, but we taped it together and it continued to do the job.
I finally decided it had earned a rest, so moved it upstairs where it might only be needed occasionally. And bought this model as a replacement last November.
I immediately noticed that it wouldn't pick up cat litter (big issue at our house) without me going back and forth over it 2-3 times. And the motor sounded quieter, but I'm thinking that was actually LESS POWER.
Finally brought the old workhorse downstairs and compared. It won hands down.
New one LOST. (Battery hasn't been a problem like others have said, FWIW).
I actually bought 2 as gifts for my kids...now I wonder if theirs is as unimpressive as my new one.
Hoover, what did you change? And WHY? Please respond!

My dog's fur seems to collect around the brushes and it doesn't pull it into the canister. I have to clear the brushes by hand or ironically, use a vacuum with a hose. I've had it for about a month, and I use it on weekends when I clean (less than 10 uses). I am still trying to decide whether or not to keep it; it does very well to eliminate the dust that kicks up with pet hair on hard wood floors. The only reason I have not returned it is, because it seems to pick up the pet hair very well. However, once the pathway is clogged with pet hair, it loses its effectiveness and I have to stop and clear it out every 10-15 minutes as needed.

WAY Better Than Expected!!!
I asked for & got this as a Christmas gift. I was quite skeptical about pick up ability on area rugs & battery life, but upon taking it outta the box, thought I'd give it a try. After charging the battery, what started as a test run on one rug ended up being a whole house vacuum (1800 sq ft). I was shocked at just how good it picked up (possibly better than my Kirby?) & ease of use!! Instant convert!

Great suction ....when it worked
A friend and I bought a Linx around the same time. In fact, she bought hers shortly after I told her how light weight it was and what a great job it did.
A few months later the handle broke but was still attached to the Linx. Les than a yard of tape fixed that issue. It was back in use.
Then I had the same problems with the charge or rather low charge on the battery. I solved that one by buying 2 more batteries.
Now the motor has become noisy. I took it over to my afore mentioned friend's place to come it with her Linx. Hers was quieter.
It seems too much going wrong with this....is it a lemon or just a lousy model?

Hi MariaHawaii! Your Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum should last longer than this. We want to help. If you’ve noticed a change in pitch with the motor this can indicate a blockage in the filter or nozzle. Please give the following steps a try:
1. Remove the foam filter from the top of the dirt cup. Rinse and allow it to completely air dry before using. This filter can be changed every 6-12 months.
2. Take out the baffle (orange tube) from inside the dirt cup and tap out in the trashcan. Do not rinse.
3. Disconnect the powered nozzle from the body of the machine. In order to do this, press in on the small gray button in the back and pull away at the same time.
4. Check the powered nozzle for clogs and remove any blockages. You can use something long and flexible to push out any debris from inside the nozzle.
5. Remove the brushroll and clear off any debris.

Not the best engineering
Pluses: very handy, kinda fun to use, battery is going just fine after two years.
Minuses: poor engineering (you stick the top part of the handle onto the bottom assembly and bolt it into place, but where it attaches breaks easily because it takes a lot of stress). You have to handle it very gingerly, or this part fails. I use duct tape to keep it together—rather rickety (see where I'm pointing in the picture).
Also, the brush assembly failed, too—it no longer turns. Tried doing everything in the instructions, no joy.
Unfortunately, I'm out of the two year warranty, so I'm out of luck (unless one of the kind Hoover reps who monitor this site take pity on me.

Best Cordless Vacuum
We are an older couple and needed a lightweight easy cordless vacuum to pickup quick at the end of day. We have a dog that dribbles food on kitchen floor. A cat that likes to roll around on floor so pet hair pickup it important. I have had cordless Vacs in past and was truly hesitant to try another one. We searched in stores and online. The battery life was one factor and the Hoover Linx met our need. It works perfectly and my husband who has a bad back just enjoys zipping through the floors at end of day. Easy to charge battery and to empty dirt cup. This has been a pleasure to actually have a cordless unit that does what it says it will do!!!
