Questions & Answers

Can you ran air conditioning and dehumidifier function at the same time?

Can you ran air conditioning and dehumidifier function at the same time?
Asked by: Jess
Simply by running the air conditioning cycle, you are removing moisture (condensation on the coils) from the air. So the answer to your question is tricky. De-humidification occurs naturally while air conditioning.

How does the water drain out of the unit? I have two (different types) and I have to have a tube going to a pan for all the water that comes out of them.
Asked by: RMP
This particular unit auto-evaporates, meaning you don't need to drain. I've had the unit for about two weeks now, running the AC unit and Dehumidifier and still never a need to drain.

It is late July in south Louisiana and this unit is performing above my expectations. During the hottest part of the afternoon ( 95+ with high humidity) the unit still keeps the room around 77 degrees and sucks the moisture right out of the room making it quite comfortable. This unit has a function where it evaporates the water it draws from the air without needing to be drained manually and so far this function has worked perfectly. No leaks, No wet spots on the floor. The exhaust hose is a bit bulky and if I'm honest should be a bit longer, but the window pieces worked well in my windows and since I do not plan on moving the unit around the house I probably will eventually vent the exhaust outside through something like a dryer vent freeing up the window. The noise level is lower than the old window unit it replaced but probably comparable to the noise from a newer window unit. I find the pitch of the hum to be quite relaxing during the night. Setup was simple, but I caution those who purchase this unit to follow the instructions about letting the unit sit for 24 hours in an upright position before turning it on. I didn't follow this at first and the compressor kept short cycling however after unplugging and letting it sit for a day so all the lubricants and such could flow back to their proper place from the shipping process the unit worked perfectly. So go ahead and unbox it, set it up, but then let it sit for a day before use and you should be pleased with the performance you get from this product. My one negative comment and the reason I only gave four stars is that you can't adjust the direction of the airflow from the vent. In my situation this means that half the air is being directed towards a wall because of where I have had to place the unit in the room. In conclusion go ahead and pick one of these up if you are cooling a small room around 200 square feet or so. Set it up and let it sit for a day before use and you should have a nice comfortable room.

The thing worked for a few days then it quit cooling. I checked everything, cleaned the filter, drained the water, etc. My son in law who works with HVAC said it sounds like the condenser won't kick on. Now I am stuck with a piece of expensive just. I have had the unit for 18 months, so expired warranty, although I didn't use it all that time. I only used it a couple of weeks.
