Was also hoping for an explanation to this. Curious that "American Hakko Products" has replied to another question and commented on reviews here but has ignored this question which was posted 2 weeks ago. I will take that as a sign to move on to a different iron/brand.

Yep, only 1. Returned it after discovering this and how expensive more would cost. This may be just for occasional use by some but I bought it because I'm just a hobbyist and wanted something I could use EVERYWHERE instead of buying both a home and a field iron. So for some of us this is our ONLY iron and will need to replace the tip or buy other shaped tips. So only having 1 included AND needing to pay a ton for others is a big deal. If they'd have at least included a 2nd tip of a standard chisel shape I would have kept this iron and recommended it to others like myself. I'll check back in the future - hopefully they add another tip at some point.

do you guys have this in stock on the store?

You may want to call your nearest Home Depot or go online and set your nearest store as "My Store". Once "My store" is set, you will be able to see what is and what isn't in stock at that location.

GREAT cordless soldering iron, EXCEPT for 2 (minor) issues: 1) The battery compartment is different than most other battery-operated devices, & I had a hard time figuring out how to get the batteries inserted in the correct direction. At first, I thought that the unit was defective, until finally, I looked on the side of the yellow handle that holds the batteries, & followed the picture displayed there. 2) I'm using this iron to cut straight holes in round plastic for a home-improvement project. While the iron works great for this need, it leaves a lot of residue on the tip, which needs to be cleaned off frequently. It'd be nice if they included a welding or soldering cleaning pad of some sort to do this. I wound up getting a $5 pair of gardening gloves, which work just fine. Just wish they had included something with this iron. I'd have been willing to pay a couple of bucks more for this convenience! Other than those 2 issues, highly recommended! Happy cordless soldering!

Read other reviews and decided to roll the dice. The fact that the Hakko liked rechargeable NiMH batteries for the hottest tip and longest run time prompted the decision so it could become my garage soldering iron for all my gearhead work when it came to wiring chores and audio stuff. I was not disappointed. I used it to solder in some wiring for a bumper lighting harness on my '83 RX-7. Not having to deal with an extension cord was sweet. I completely rebuilt my 2013 FIAT 500 Abarth's driver's side electric window just this past Sunday and used the Hakko to melt a plastic rod to pin the plastic pill that is the rear guide for that window. Definitely not what the designers had in mind when they made this jewel of a product. Versatility in any tool is always a big plus in my book! I love this thing and HIGHLY recommend it to anyone wanting to "cut the cord" when it comes to conventional soldering irons!! Mario III

I would recommend this product for the following reasons: * Cordless * Lightweight * Versatile power option but best with NiMH * Small projects, small electronics, small soldering pads. * Portable to carry for work on location. * Pretty good value I don't recommend for these reasons: * Only heats to 600F tops.... * Alternate tips are costly compared to other makes and models * Not particularly comfortable in-hand * I am a RC hobbyist and for heavy weight materials like LiPo battery connectors or bullet plugs, it just isn't hot enough as a main, go-to, bench soldering iron. Finally, Hakko makes a fine bench soldering station and they produce excellent products under a reputable and dependable brand. This is a pretty good and portable tool to carry for emergency fixes but unnecessary if we have a higher powered Hakko station on our bench that will create a solid joint that will stay. Get one for quick fix on the road because it gets hot fast and and the stock tip is reliable for small pads (as mentioned.) Use rechargeable NiMH only. I cannot recommend for your only soldering tool.

Hakko soldering iron
This soldering iron heats up fast, 20-25 seconds and it is ready to go, I recommend getting the lithium batterys as they last longer and have a steady runtime and don't drop off like alkaline batterys do. This iron has an on/off switch and the tip cover can be put on even when the tip is hot, the cover will shut the power switch off automatically if you forget. This iron is for light duty soldering, it will not solder large components. If you are a service tech in the field and need a good soldering iron and have tried the butane irons, I would highly recommend this iron.

Very well made. Can solder up to 18 AWG wire. Much better than the Proskit model.
