No need to use both holes on each tombstone.(socket). Just hot(or black) on one end of tube and neutral (or white) on the tombstone (socket) on other end of tube. Tubes don't have a hot or neutral end, can go in either way. Taking out the ballast leaves all colors and pieces of wire in there you don't need anymore. Just snip and remove the excess. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the inquiry. These are compatible with most T8 8 foot fluorescent fixtures. They will not work in 2 pin tombstone or in recessed contact tombstone.

I have always purchased the number that I need, so to be accurate, perhaps you should call Home Depot customer service.

Is the lens on these bulbs clear or frosted?

It depends on the brand you get. The ones I have gotten from Home Depot have been clear, and seem to put out a brighter light, which is what I wanted in the first place. LED, of course.

do these need power on one end or both ends?

It depends on the type of bulb you get. It should say on the package it comes in, it one end or both ends need to be wired. I prefer the ones that only require wiring on one end. In my opinion it makes it easier. I am assuming you are referring to led bulbs, though.

After you bypass the ballast, is this the only type LED bulb that will work in the fixture?

Thank you for the inquiry. Once you re-wire to bypass and remove the ballast, you will only be able to use type b (ballast bypass) or type A/B hybrid (this bulb works both ways) LED bulbs in the fixture. You cannot put fluorescent bulbs back into the fixture. There are stickers to apply to the fixture to warn that the fixture has been retrofitted to bypass the ballast. Hope this answers your question.

These bulbs are the perfect and smple replacement to your 9' flourescent needs. The current draw of the bulb is just over half of the original however, you are also not using the ballast which also draws current. In use, these bulbs are very white. So, not only are they quite a bit brighter in lumen, but they also appear to be a lot, maybe 50% brighter than your existing cheap 8' flourescent fixtures. I have added a photo to show you one of my previously exisint 8' fistrues and another one which I have changed the bulbs in. As you can see, the new bulbs are a lot brighter. The re-wiring is quite simple as the bulbs are direct voltage, just remove the original ballast and do a quick and simple rewire to the connecting ends on the fixture.

The lumen output of new led light bulbs compared to the old T12 fluorescent light bulbs greatly improved. The new led light bulbs are not quite as rigid as the old T12 light bulbs. The new light bulbs had a tendency to sag in the middle because of the 8’ length. A custom made support bracket was installed at approximately 4’ to keep the lamp from sagging and possibly falling out of the lamp holders. Manufacturers of the 8’ led light bulbs should improve this issue.

Brightness and wavelength was good. Since they are very light weight, they tended to bow over the length of the lamp and made it hard to keep them from rotating in the T8 socket. It took some work to ensure the reflector side was where I needed it to be.
