Questions & Answers

Do I need to pre drill holes into concrete with a rotohammer or are they meant to be nailed directly into conrete?

Asked by: Ktontz
I believe these are equipped with concrete nails and I used a 5lb hand sledge hammer to set them. If it is old concrete, you can used a Roto-hammer to pre-drill and attach them with blue Tap-con screws.

Why are these 3 for 2.09 others 100 for $20.00

Asked by: Shar
Because sometimes you'd rather buy 1 (or 3) than for $2.09 than $20. I need one piece for a doorway after tiling the floor, so I'd much rather spend $2.09 than $20, and honestly I'd rather have only 2 left over than 99.

As the previous reviewers mentioned the concrete nails severely under-perform. If you are extremely lucky, you might get some of them to sink into fully cured concrete, but don't hold your breath. Home Depot should find another supplier of a higher quality product. Why should one have to buy better concrete nails that actually work for a task this simple? Also, note that these particular ones are only 7/8 inch wide. The actual tacks are real "el-cheapo" also and will bend if you look at them the wrong way. The wood substrate is about the cheapest that is possible to be manufactured. I'd rather pay more for a product that is actually dependable for the task at hand.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Nails do not If you do buy this product, make sure you get a bag of #10 x 5/8 galvanized concrete nails. The nails that come with this board are awful and do not sink into to the concrete. I had to take all the "concrete" nails out and replace them with #10 x 5/8 galvanized concrete nails.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You'd better pick up some suitable nails, if you expect to attach this strip to concrete The strips come with attachment nails, but they will NOT! go into concrete. I tried many times, only to end up with a bent nail, in every case. I ended up using epoxy to glue the strips to the concrete, which makes a strong bond, but I'll probably have trouble ever removing them, should I ever need to.

A rabbit had been doing a number on my lettuce. I tried the plastic forks but it did not stop them. I bought a package of these and laid them out on the perimeter and it did the trick. Watched a rabbit approach but not touch the lettuce.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality nails The tack portion of this product is fine but the nails are junk if you have aged concrete. If your slab is older, buy a bag of Roberts nails and pull the nails out of the strip. You can get better product from carpet stores but they usually only sell by the case.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage I was an installer for 10 years. This tack strip is poorly made. I do not understand why the Home Depot stop selling Roberts tack strip. when my crew was in a pinch and we had to buy halex, we knew we were going to have a crappy day. the nails are all through the tack strip instead of just seated into the wood. This means that they will bounce when they hit the concrete. In addition they're all angled in different directions. This is such inconsistent garbage! If you value your time and your floors, find someone who sells Roberts tack strip.
