Questions & Answers

Why do we have grommets on top of the canvas?

We finally put ours up today and I realized we have grommets/holes on the top of the canvas. Won't the mosquito's get in there? Model#GGHL00019
Asked by: Meredith
I assume they are there to prevent top sagging when it rains, however, they are too far up and serve no purpose. I’ve had to replace top because water pooling and it rips where the Velcro straps are. Now again this has happened but I will not pay for another top, I will patch it and put grommets lower down where it makes sense. Also ordered replacement small top but because it came in before I was ready to put up didn’t realize till later it doesn’t fit frame it’s too small and can’t stretch it enough to fit all 4 posts. The frame itself has lasted but the tops need some thought. Before I buy another gazebo I will be aware of these problems and even though I like the Arrow might consider a different brand.

Does this gazebo's nets have zippers?

Asked by: Art
Yes there is a zipper in the center of each side. You can keep them open with the built in Velcro tie-back or keep them zipped closed. They work individually, so you can have some open, some closed.

Should the canvas top be removed if high winds are expected? If so, how easy is it to do that?

Should the canvas top be removed if high winds are expected? If so, how easy is it to do that?
Asked by: jdw
I've had two full frame Arrow Gazebos and three Replacement tops in the last 10 years. First, I screw the frame into the concrete patio. Then, caulk all joints, and spray paint with Rustolium black gloss or semi-gloss. I do this at the end or beginning of each season. When storing the tops for the winter I use black duct tape to cover any openings at the top of frame to keep the rain from getting inside the frame. This will preserve the frame from the elements. After three years the frame will begin to deteriorate anyway, but you will get an extra year or two of use. I haven't found a way to preserve the replacement tops as yet, but when high winds are forcast I remove all the corners and tie them together in the center under the top canopy. This prevents the unit from becoming airborne. I never use the Velcro ties because they weaken and tear the canopy with the high winds and rain. That's all folks and good luck. I do this all myself and I'm 80 years and female. P.S. once you've had a Gazebo you never want to live without one.

Can I set it up on a deck?

Asked by: auntie
Yes you can we drilled the metal sides to our deck. We take the whole top and canvas off and store for our WI winters wile the metal sides stay on the deck all winter. The canvas top last about 2 summers as our deck gets direct sun. We also do not keep the velcro attached to the top its not needed to hold on and if you do the wind will whip under it and eventually it tears where the velcro is attached on the top. I love this set. It is my second set I have bought for my deck in the last six years. Keeps the mosquitos out with the attached sides that zip. I usually don't respond to posts but wanted to share what i found helpful. i will buy this again.

10 ft. x 10 ft. Arrow Gazebo is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 649.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better than most Long story short. This gazebo is better made than 90% of the stuff out there. Had another brand 9x9 that crumpled after one light rain storm. My parents had the arrow 10x10 on their deck for 3 years now. Pros: - frame is adequate. Stouter than most. Not awesome, but it holds up. - roof has 3 vertical trusses per side. Many gazebos have just 2. More = less rain pooling chance. - holds up well to wind and rain Cons: - cheesy chinese bolts - steel could be heavier gauge - of course that would make it heavier and more expensive, right? - dont confuse this w a screened in porch. You need to take the canvas off over the winter. - fabric is lightweight. Many companies make heavier covers that will fit. So when it wears out i will buy one. Anyways. I am reinforcing it as we speak. Aluminum rods to help the roof. Poles to help the main supporte. But i'm paranoid and over do it! The prices for these things are all over the place! Keep looking at home depots and you can find one on sale eventually.

This is a replacement for one damaged in a once in a lifetime snowstorm. My original one was 20 years old and sturdier than all get out. THICK metal corners; didn't wobble at all. Was on my patio and never wobbled or moved an inch in all those years. But the snowstorm collapsed the canopy supports and a replacement was necessary. Now, this new one....you can shake it at all 4 corners, which scares me to death about wind storms. This thing will probably up-end and blow away. It's not stable at all; all the metal bars are thin and there's no weight to hold it in place. It's really sad that this is what they're making today..... If you can afford one that weighs a LOT MORE and has sturdier corners, I'd advise getting it, but this is not a gazebo that will last. I doubt it'll make it through 1 winter...

The highlighted section(s): mentions a competitor I purchased this same Gazebo in 2005 I replaced the canopy cover 3 times due to fading, I replaced the first one with the riplock 350 in a dark brick color, faded by second year, the second and the third ones were the riplock 500 the last one I saved from last year and will use on the new Gazebo and save the supplied one. The Arrow Gazebo I purchased in 2005 I took down this winter due to rusting where I bolted to the concrete patio deck, I used 1/4" plastic shims between the Gazebo base and the concrete. The one I am buying now I will buy some good matching paint and give a extra coat to the leg bottoms and the four corner shelves, the shelves rusted fast due to planter baskets placed there. We live in New Jersey and need to remove the cover in the fall due to snow loads (if we have snow).

Rated 2 out of 5 by from The material from which the main frame was made from,... The material from which the main frame was made from, as well as the top, was extremely light weight. In fact, even thought the gazebo was anchored to the ground using their anchors, It was tossed in a recent storm (Jan 16 ,2019), here in northern California and was destroyed. I would hesitate to purchase another unit from them without being able to personally inspect it, and then decide on it's ability to withstand a good storm. $300.00 down the toilet...

Rated 3 out of 5 by from What do some of you expect? I have owned this product for 4 years. I knew when I bought it that it wouldn't last long, but it was within my budget. After four years we have decided to replace it due to rust and broken welds. My wife loves it, especially the corner shelves. Yes the netting and the roof rips but had we kept the dog from running through the screens and the cats off the roof the fabric would have lasted more than two seasons. When it gets windy I go out and unzip the screens and open them so the wind doesn't rip them or send the unit flying. I don't have the unit anchored other than having potted plants on the shelves and only twice had I gone out after a storm and had to readjust the unit back to its location from wind. And I ALWAYS remove the netting and roof in the fall so the snow doesn't ruin the whole thing. If you want something more durable get a wooden gazebo, this is not made to last forever.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Lasts about 1 1/2 years We are on our forth Arrow gazebo, and need to replace it again. It's wonderful while it lasts, but seriously needs better construction of the metal components. High Santana winds in the spring in Southern California will knock the structure down in spite of additional L-brackets being mounted to the base of our deck. I love it, so continue to buy replacements every year, but buyers should know that the canvas will tear after exposure to the sun, and the grommets neither drain rainfall, nor prevent the inside from getting wet. Much modification may extend the life beyond spring/summer, for instance we made walls for it out of heavy canvas drop clothes that we attached grommets to, then hung additional Indian tapestries inside to make it an environment. Rain, wind and snow will take a toll on this product very quickly. Recommend you wait till the end of the summer to purchase on clearance, then buy additional canopy and mosquito net for when it needs, thus avoiding high season costs.

However, it is now September 2018 and I don't think it will make it to the end of the month. It takes at least 2 people to put this together - the video only shows 1 man working on it. I have had to replace quite a few of the bolts holding the frame together, using longer ones with lock washers as the originals are too short and came apart. The netting has several holes already, as does part of the canopy. Six months ago, the welds started rusting and several of the pieces have come off. The most positive thing I can say is that the frame did survive Hurricane Irma (we took the top and curtains off). I have included pictures of 3 of the sides showing where pieces rusted and fell off. I am really disappointed as we live in Florida and it's impossible to enjoy sitting outside without some kind of shelter.

This is my second frame, first lasted 8 yrs Overall a good purchase, except that I have gone through many tarps The velcro straps never line up correctly and if you do attach them, they rip right where they are attached whenever there is rain But if you dont attach the straps, when it rains the water pools up on top and I have to push it off from under the tent with a broom Love the frame, but the tarp needs improvement
