Questions & Answers

Why do we have grommets on top of the canvas?

We finally put ours up today and I realized we have grommets/holes on the top of the canvas. Won't the mosquito's get in there? Model#GGHL00019
Asked by: Meredith
The holes are meant for rain, but we have plugged them with rubber stoppers and use an improvised wire coat hanger to expand the canvas where pooling occurs. This way the water doesn't pool up at all, and sheets off. The grommets don't actually do what they're designed for, a strong rain will still create pooling. We have had 4 of these gazebos, and hafta replace them every couple years, either from strong Santana winds breaking the structure or from the canopy tearing in winds. We bought heavy duty canvas drop clothes, and our own grommets and created walls for the gazebo so we have a 4-season tent on our deck. We hung sheer fabrics from the center and placed strings of lights and a heater and use it for occasional outdoor sleeping. The interior we hung with cool Indian tapestries again using grommets we put in the corners and created an environment that's very groovy.

Does this gazebo's nets have zippers?

Asked by: Art
Yes there is a zipper in the center of each side. You can keep them open with the built in Velcro tie-back or keep them zipped closed. They work individually, so you can have some open, some closed.

Can I set it up on a deck?

Asked by: auntie
Yes you can we drilled the metal sides to our deck. We take the whole top and canvas off and store for our WI winters wile the metal sides stay on the deck all winter. The canvas top last about 2 summers as our deck gets direct sun. We also do not keep the velcro attached to the top its not needed to hold on and if you do the wind will whip under it and eventually it tears where the velcro is attached on the top. I love this set. It is my second set I have bought for my deck in the last six years. Keeps the mosquitos out with the attached sides that zip. I usually don't respond to posts but wanted to share what i found helpful. i will buy this again.

How do I store it for the winter?

We have it at our summer house on the lawn on the coast of Maine. It took more than two hours to put up with three adults helping to assemble it. I dread taking it down. Is there a better way?
Asked by: Sweetiehare
I've had mine for 5+ years. I keep the frame up all winter and use the cover and netting only in the spring and summer months. My frame is in good condition, no issues here.

I purchased two of these Gazebo at the end of the season at HD and only paid about $80 each. I can't believe they are selling now for $280! While they were a very good value at $80 I cannot see paying the full price for them. The canvas is very cheap, obviously has no UV protection on it at all. I got 2 years from my first top, but only one season from the second. Just ordered a new top for $79, but this will be the last year for this Gazebo. While the size and quality of the other parts of the gazebo are good, and it looks very nice when erected, without a quality canvas that's a moot point. I'd look elsewhere.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Arrow 10 X 10 gazebo Purchased this gazebo for the 3rd time in about 7 or 8 years. I keep buying the same one because it matches where I drilled the anchor bolts into the patio. The price keeps increasing each time I buy it and that's expected. However, the last price increase was more than 20% in a two year span. This purchase required to call the phone number provided on the sheet in the box because each of the 8 Velcro straps down each side were short. A new cover was provided after 1 follow up phone call. I like this unit as if fits my patio very well, but I will not replace it in two or three years with such a large price increase.

This is the second Arrow Gazebo we have purchased the first was destroyed in a windstorm. This one was nearly twice as much in cost (not sure why) as both were purchase via Home depot. This one showed up with components bent, holes not lining up, and finials missing from the corners. We decided it was not worth attempting to return so I just drilled new holes and pounded out the bends with a rubber mallet. I actually saved some finials from our last one and glued them in place. The Gazebo looks great but is cheap in manufature. I will not purchase another product from Hampton Bay.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Arrow gazebo I have had a gazebo before that lasted for eleven years. I went through three tops. Company went under and I couldn't get another top. I mount my gazebo to cool decking with lags. This gazebo was simple to install. I reinforced the top with industrial Velcro in 25 different spots on the frame. Our monsoon season here in Tucson started a week ago and we have had several storms with high winds and heavy winds. The frame sways some but isn't problematic. The top drains great, much better than my previous tops. If you mount the base well and add some Velcro to minimize flapping then it should last for several years. I love this gazebo!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Won't Hold Up Against Wind My husband and I absolutely loved this gazebo after a very long day of putting it together. We had a lot of trouble getting the canopy to stretch over the frame. It looks gorgeous, and we thought it was perfect for our backyard. We anchored it down (I would NOT recommend just letting it "sit" on a deck or patio) but it didn't even last three months. One storm ripped it to shreds. Both the canopy and metal frame were destroyed, and took out a chunk of our roof when it flew across our yard. We're extremely disappointed to have wasted $200. It is beautiful, but way too much work to take down each time it rains or gets windy.

We have had a few of these Gazebos in the past 10 yrs, exact design but different manufacturers. We use them for a few years, taking down the canvas and netting for the winter. They go up easily and they are quite sturdy. They last through storms and windy weather. We have lost one when a tree limb landed on the frame and badly bent it. We also have purchase replacement roofs and netting and used the frame from a previous purchase. The reason for the 4 stars is that this particular Gazebo (a complete one) had a defect where the velcro to hold the netting at the corner was sewn on the wrong side. No big deal us since we always leave it zipped up but we were disappointed that it was not made as nice as previous ones. We would recommend this Gazebo.
