AnswersNo -- we have these connected to a WiFi smart outlet -- so we can set a timer and turn them on and off using our phones. There is no on/off switch on the string lights.

AnswersPlug them in first, then twist the bulb in until it comes on. We thought the string was busted after installing all of the bulbs. i thought I had twisted each bulb enough, but nope, I still had 3 - 4 turns left, then bam. lights came on.

Just opened the box and 4 of the 12 light sockets don't work. Returning for another set. The sets I got were clearly returned before and not quality checked before putting them back on the shelf for resale. Safety labels removed, haphazardly assembled in the box and, as stated previously, they do not work properly. Disappointing. I will review again when I eventually get a working set.
Very well made. Have them outdoors and no problems. They are the best for back yard wine tasting....

You must screw the bulbs in tight!

I thought I got a dud set and decided to Google it before I took them back since every single light did not work. As others have said, you must screw them in very tight. You might think you're about to break the bulb, but you're not. Screw the bulbs in, plug in the lights and for the ones not working screw the bulb in a little tighter until it turns on.
They work, but there’s a twist!

These lights are strung in my gazebo. I purchased 2 boxes from my local Home Depot. Spent hours trying to trouble shoot because neither of the 2 strands of light were working and they were already zip tied to the gazebo. We tried disconnecting each bulb and prying out the hot connector, changing electricity outlets, testing each strand individually, testing with a traditional light bulb, etc., but still no light! Talk about being frustrated! We were getting ready to take down the lights that were just hung so that they could be returned. I started playing around with one of the lightbulbs and voila, we had light!!! Turns out that these are water proof and the bulbs need to be tightened until you can’t tighten no more! Then, and only then, will they work!

I purchased 2 sets of these lights and installed these at my recently built pool deck. After I did the Clark Griswold plug in, only 4 out 48 lights were burning. I checked a few but none were burned out. Come to find out the hard way that you really have to twist these bulbs in. I promise you will not break them. They have to sink in into the outer rubber of the sockets. Beautiful product. I already have 2 other sets at my rear porch patio and they look awesome. I fully recommend these string lights.
