No -- we have these connected to a WiFi smart outlet -- so we can set a timer and turn them on and off using our phones. There is no on/off switch on the string lights.

No, just recently I had to replace a couple of them. We had some high winds and they hit the side of the house and broke.

If your bulbs are out after only a few months, try tightening them!!! I just came on here to find replacement bulbs only to find that the bulb I thought was out only needed to be tightened.

I'm sure you could if you leave an inch or more air space between the bulb and the wall. Even though these are only 11 watt bulbs they recommend you don't let them touch anything.

This set is not solar powered.

I've left mine outside for 3 years now and they still work great. They've been used for approximately 4-6 hours every night over those 3 years. I live in Texas so winters aren't that harsh, but the lights have experienced lower 20's multiple times.

I answered this question and just realized you are asking about the cord color. I have seen this type light at several retailers and all have been with black wiring.

I do not have mine plugged into an extension cord, but you absolutely could!

Plug them in first, then twist the bulb in until it comes on. We thought the string was busted after installing all of the bulbs. i thought I had twisted each bulb enough, but nope, I still had 3 - 4 turns left, then bam. lights came on.
