IF this is mounted facing up, does it give enough light to a person looking in the mirror and also does it provide enough light for a smallish half bathroom?
Asked by: celia
Probably so, I mounted face down and it is really bright with four 60W bulbs. You can go 100W on the bulbs, but I don't think you'd need to do that.

can this fixture be installed on the ceiling?

No, unless you want visitors laughing at you when they get home.

Will it work with LED bulbs?

Asked by: Ron
It should work with LED's as long as the wattage is within the allowable range - max 100watt incandescent bulbs or the equivalent in wattage..

If you just have a wire coming out of your wall, you can fashion a junction box out of this fixture by affixing HD Store SKU #201952 box cover to the big hole in back-center of this unit and feeding your wire through an FMC clamp in the middle of that cover. That's probably not good for your warranty, but I had no room for a JB in the wall and I wanted that hole covered. The unit has only two screws holding the unit to the wall. If you can't tap into studs with those screws, I suggest you add up to four more attach points (e.g., use drywall anchors). Two of my additional attach points I did manage to get into studs, so it's very well attached now at the cost of extra little holes in the back of the unit. The metal backing of this unit is thin and not rigid, the main reason I added four attach points. The weight of the glass encourages this backing to flex as the weight wants the fixture to tilt forward. The two spherical cap nuts are all there is to to attach the front portion (which has the weight of the glass) to the main housing. One of the nuts was stripped out when I got it and it's almost impossible to order like-kind separately and it was easier to use 8/32 nuts as an alternative instead of exchanging it at HD after all the analysis and work. I will either get replacements from the manufacturer or switch to acorn cap nuts. The individual lights were all crooked relative to the unit, but a little adjustment solved that; (they're nutted on, not welded). The manual wants you to attach all the glass to the front half and try to wire that while, hopefully, someone is holding the front half for you. I can't recommend that approach; drop that and you're out of luck. It's probably a good idea to assemble everything on a table, fix the crookedness of the individual lights, then take the glass off while you hang it. For this price, this unit is okay and it looks good on the wall; I'm happy with the final result. My opinion is it's under-engineered for the weight of the glass, should have at least 2 more rear-half attach points and a 3rd front-half attach point (cap nut). I have to do another bathroom, so I'll look at other options.

Replaced a builder's special, so anything was an improvement, but this light fixture is solid and works well. Only issues we had were with mounting it. It takes two sets of hands while the wiring is being attached. Also, it's a heavy fixture, so an extra set of holes were drilled into the mounting strip and wall anchors added at the edges/corners of the fixture. Otherwise, it felt too heavy to be supported by the anchoring system included.

We like the flexibility in directing the lamps up or down, and have chosen to point them downward so that folks have more light at the sink and mirror. The one drawback to this light set is that the shades do not screw evenly into the assembly, and so if one looks closely, one can see that they are slightly uneven.

The final nub screws can get tricky and were a little pain bc they would catch and cause the back screw to loosen ..... ugh. The lights aren't even with one another but it's not that obvious unless you're looking for it. But for $50 I'm happy and more importantly the wife is happy.

Our biggest complaint is the connections where the sconces go. On our first light, one was very loose, but the light was already in place, so we kept it. In the most recent light, the connector was completely shattered, which we didn't notice until it was ready to be placed.
