I am thinking of purchasing this light to use in a hallway which is a little over 3 ft. wide, I know the height is adjustable but am wondering if this light might be to wide for the space?

I actually put mine in my master bath and the space isn't wider then 3 ft. I do wish the ceiling was a little higher, but for me, it works.

No, you would not have to use the crystals, but if you don't put them on the chandelier, the "arms" of the fixture will have small, empty hooks on them where the crystals are made to be hung.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from IDEAL for a Smaller Diningroom This is a small but elegant chandelier. I needed a chandelier that wouldn't overpower our small dining room (table seats 6). The mini chandeliers with three lights were too small. The beautiful chandeliers on display in the stores were too large. This chandelier is just right. The only trouble I had was deciding how many links to remove from the chain. I wanted to get it right the first time since the links are very difficult to bend. The candle sleeves are metal so you won't have to worry about discoloration over time. The color is dark brown not black like you see with some ORB. The crystals are acrylic but sparkle like the real deal. The only way you can tell the crystals are fake is by touching them. I used four 60 watt bulbs since I have a dimmer switch. I ordered some little candelabra shades from Amazon to add some more glamour to the fixture. I will update with a photo later. I highly recommend this fixture.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Missing Part I ordered this chandelier and paid an electrician to hang it because I do not know anything about electrical work. Once it was hung, the electrician told me that one of the socket sleeves didn't fit. I called Hampton Bay/Home Depot support and asked for the part to be sent to me. To my surprise, they don't make "parts" for this chandelier. They sent me to my local store to hopefully find a socket sleeve that would work. Well, they didn't have any that were the correct size. So I called support back and the only answer was to take down the chandelier I had installed, send it back, and request a new one. I am completely disappointed and am researching another option since I can't afford to pay for another installation. The chandelier is very pretty and looks good once it is hung. My recommendation is to check that all parts are included and fit correctly before hanging.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Pleasantly Surprised! I was a bit hesitant to purchase this chandelier due to the Q&A/reviews that noted the crystals were not glass. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. I believe the crystals really are glass - especially the sphere that hangs at the bottom of the fixture (it is rather heavy). They do not feel plastic-like to me and sparkle nicely. Also, another website that sells this chandelier notes the materials as glass and crystal. (Not sure about the smaller round beads though -- they don't feel like glass). My husband installed the chandelier in our bedroom with no problems. It really is quite lovely - not too large or overwhelming for the room - simply elegant!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Run, Dont Walk!!! I literally have returned (not from Hampton Bay) 3 different light fixture that I have bought on-line before I found these! For the price, amazing find! They are GLASS, not plastic! The metal is a dark bronze & it's very rich looking in real life! They have a good weight to them too. My older sister and my 17 year old nice LOVED them too! Cant wait to install them! More pics to come!

I was very hesitant about getting this product because I was afraid it would look cheap based on the low price in comparison to Ballard Designs and Pottery Barn. It worked beautifully in my guest bedroom. The finish was spot on. I didn't install so I can't speak to that. However, I am very pleased with the appearance, quality, and value. It's a great product!
