Can this be used in a screened in porch? I would like to use it in ours but worry about melting the vinyl siding on our twelve foot ceilings.

No ,with a plastic ceiling the dome of the heater is too close to safely operate. 40,000 BTU heat in an enclosed room would be unwise for safety sake of the area.

you can get 6 hours straight on full high . after that it does not have high burners and no longer orange from heat. it is now low pilot lights. however this is due to the fact that pressure is now low and does not travel upward in the long hose well anymore. but it will be enough to cook on a grill due to the shorter hose travel.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from I have had it about a month and it is very hard to get it to stay running. Takes a couple minutes... I have had it about a month and it is very hard to get it to stay running. Takes a couple minutes not 30 sec to get it to the point you can turn it up to low or high. Low only runs about 5 minutes then shuts off. High will run a little longer then automatically shuts off. I have worked to get the flame directly on the thermopile but has not helped. I will be returning the one I have.

Had trouble with lighting but found out you have to turn the turn-on valve just short of #4 and do your 30 seconds before you slowly release the valve the flames should stay and then you can turn valve left to.amount of heat you want.

The first day with a moderate wind, it blew over and a part on the heater broke. I don't think it should have been so fragile as it is an outdoor heater, but whatever, so I called to order a new part after a warranty claim was denied by the manufacturer. 3 weeks later it never arrived and when I called back I was told that the supplier is in China and it takes a long time to get parts to a customer. The fact that it broke so easily and I can't get repair parts is very concerning. I would not buy this item again.

No matter how long you hold the button in after it lights, when you let go, the gas shuts off. 1-year warranty has expired. Customer support says only way to fix it is purchased the burner assembly (C in the manual) for $50 plus $30 for shipping.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Inspect carefully when you unpack The first one was bought on-line and arrived at the house with damaged burner/diffuser/control panel assembly. The damage was apparent when we removed the unit from the package. Obviously this part was "pre-owned". We talked with HD via Live Chat, were offered a new one at a 15% discount. We reordered and returned the damaged unit to the store with no issues. The second heater arrived three days later. No damage. Took about an hour to assemble using very detailed instructions. Assembly requires a Philips Head screwdriver and adjustable wrench. I used a socket set and magnetic tipped screwdriver. A second set of hands is a plus due to the height of the unit when fully assembled. Lit off on first try. The igniter is QUIET, you can barely hear it work. Ditto the heater itself. Even when turned to the High Heat setting the heater is silent. Opinion? Fantastic value for the money. As an aside, Home Depot stated that, if I had the unit delivered to the store, they would assemble and test the heater at no charge. The problem being transporting a fully assembles propane patio heater home is a car not sized to accommodate it.
