The Mirage/Sahara 48,000 BTU patio heater is the ultimate commercial grade patio heater. Specifically designed for commercial use it is fitted with a durable double wall burner for improved heat output and longer life, an extra-large reflector (38 in. Dia) for better heat distribution along with "Heat Focus" for total control and efficiency. We have engineered out the pilot light so ignition is instant and their is no risk of potential pilot blockage in the future.

AnswersIF your '20 lb' tank is filled to it's maximum allowed capacity (you own it and fill it - NOT exchanged), you can expect about 9 hours on HIGH (20 lb / 2.2 burn rate). HOWEVER, if you use an 'Exchange' bottle service (give up your empty, receive different bottle in return) then it is likely just filled to 15 lbs. which translates into ~ 6.8 hrs. This is why I buy and keep my own bottles.

The heater is a beast. Measure your space before purchasing. I think the specs said it was 84 pounds but the instruction manual actually says its 124 pounds. This unit will definitely not tip over in a Santa Ana wind like we sometimes have here in Southern California. My husband picked up the unit from the local store and the box was totally damaged. The store told him he could bring it back if there were any issues. I was contemplating whether to return it for something smaller. However, the thought of putting everything back in the box and dealing with a return made me change my mind. We put it together in about an hour and have been enjoying the heat output ever since.

This heater is fairly well made with high quality SS parts. Feels heavy and solid. Assembly takes a little time and some basic handyman experience to decipher the assembly instructions and to get all the parts to fit together properly. This heater cranks out a lot of heat (more than usual) and the angled dish feature really works well in directing the heat where you want it, unlike the more common heaters with fixed dishes. The attached wheels work well to move it where you want it. What really impresses me is that this heater can easily accommodate a larger propane bottle. The description says it takes a 20 lb. propane bottle, but the extra-large base cover can easily accommodate a 30 lb. propane bottle with room to spare. That means you should get over 13 hours of burn time on one full 30 lb. bottle! I would recommend this heater - worth the $$$ for the 'focus' tilt dish feature, high heat output and its ability to accommodate a 30 lb propane bottle. Only time will tell if it lasts for years to come.
