Poor quality
Have had it for 3 months. We bought this based on Wirecutter recommendation. The online ordering process was more difficult than you can imagine, not a product issue but still frustrating. It took about 3 weeks to finally receive it after initially being told 2-3 days, then it was cancelled. After finally getting it and setting up in our umbrella stand, we found that the umbrella canopy came off the frame everytime we closed it due to poor fit, requiring us to partially open it, stop, reattach canopy, before fully opening. On top of the poor fit, sometimes the frame would get twisted around the pole requiring adjustment before opening. Finally while using it in tilt mode a slight breeze caused the base pole to snap in half while we were sitting under it. Nobody got hurt but it was shocking. Working with customer support to get a replacement pole, they’re not sure it will be covered by warranty as an “act of nature"

Not built to last
Little over a year of occasional seasonal use and the material developed a hole in it. Umbrella flaps like a flag in the breeze now!

Crank to tilt
the umbrella tilts to one side by cranking the lift after the umbrella is fully opened. counter cranking will bring umbrella straight again. Does not come with weighted stand as pictured. must buy separately.

Broke in half
On a not overly windy day, we came home to our umbrella bent in half and detached. We were so excited about this umbrella, but sadly it lasted less than a year.

First time installing it broke.
Very poor product. A support beam broke my first time opening the umbrella. Auto tilt did not work as per instructions. Called hampton bay and there recommendation was to turn the lever harder. I did until the internal wire snapped. Great advice. $119 of garbage. Returning immediately.

This umbrella is great and it’s huge! It’s a rectangle shape made of a nice cloth material. The crank handle is very comfortable to use and it cranks easily. When you crank it all the way up and then crank some more it tilts the umbrella to help block the sun. The pole has a spring loaded push button in the center that allows you to take the pole apart for easy storage. This a a great umbrella that will fit any table setup the pole is normal diameter. I highly recommend this umbrella

The umbrella supplies a nice shade when the sun is too brutal on my skin and with it I can sit and enjoy a light lunch outside my backyard. The umbrella tilt is a nice feature to adjust the shade as the sun rotates throughout the day. The riverbed shade is a nice color and the fabric seems durable. The rectangular profile of the umbrella shade is perfect for my dining table. Opening and closing is also very easy to do too.
