AnswerThe diameter of the umbrella pole is 48mm. This umbrella comes with sand bag base in the carton, suggest to use 100 - 120kg umbrella base in order to make it stable.

Good after a modification
As others have said, after installing it, I watched a very slight breeze snap two of the very cheap plastic arms that are in the sewn up arm part of it. I solved the problem by placing two zip ties over each arm (and cheap plastic arms) about one foot from the edge. Problem solved. I have had it up in high wind days several times and it holds like a champ.

Great umbrella for the price
We were looking for a large umbrella to cover a south facing deck. This umbrella is easy to crank up and down and it covers well! The only downside to the product is the sand base. It was too large for our space so we modified an old garden table to support the heavy umbrella. Our table weighs about 100 lbs. by itself and is cast iron, so we know it won't tip over. Overall, we are pleased with our purchase!

Great durable product for the money, easy assembly but the base sand base bag that comes with it has an extremely hard to fill capability with the average sand that you can buy separately from a building supply store. The base should be made up of a hard plastic that could be much easier to fill with sand or water, whichever the person would prefer instead of it being supplied with a sand bag that is required to be filled with sand into 4 separate hard to fill compartments. The sand bag which comes with the umbrella is not capable of holding water too well & as mentioned previously is needed to be filled with sand not supplied with purchase into 4 separate hard to fill port hole openings in the top of the bag for the 4 different sections that the bag is made up of. Otherwise great size & quality umbrella for the money!!!
