BIG DISAPPOINTMENT: stitching lasted three weeks.
Purchased 3 weeks ago to replace exact same model which was purchased 4 years ago. Current design is cheaper fabric, poor stitching. Corner pockets for pools were loose and have torn, stitching is a long basting stitch causing us to resew pockets by machine. Velcro is already frayed and needs to be replaced. This newer design is CHEAP and not Hampton Bay quality. Save your money.

DO NOT BUY - NOT FOR OUTDOOR USE - Rusted base
This product is not a small investment. I got 2 of these on sale for almost $300 dollars each. In less than 3 years the base of the umbrella was destroyed by rust and corrosion. This umbrella is not built to be used outdoors. I think the worst part is that the company is aware of it, that's why they offer a 2 year warranty because they know after hat the base will be useless. I am not the only one with the same issue, if you read other reviews will find multiple cases of the same problem.

Don’t buy
Had this umbrella for less than 3 year. It was great until it wasn’t. One day it just fell over. When I opened the base I saw that the cross base was completely rusted. Contacted the manufacturer and was told that the warranty for this product is 2 years. Will not buy anything else made by Hampton Bay.

broke after 3 summers
The knob on the side that holds up the umbrella has plastic threads. Mine fell apart after 3 summers of use, and they do not sell replacement parts, so they tell me I have to replace the entire thing. I loved this thing until it was rendered unusable!

An Economical & Sensible Solution for Outdoors
It's a good basic umbrella. Everything is packaged well. Instructions clear. The base goes together in under 5 mins. The weight bags have large openings to pour the 170lbs of sand in to the 2 bags. Place them & clip them together. Put on the cover & slip the poles together. I put the top umbrella pole on backwards so it was about 4.5ft high! I switched it around for the 8ft height. BUT. I placed backwards for shade low to the pool's edge! So you can say it has two height levels. :)

So far So good
We bought the unit a few weeks ago. We had an off set unit before so I liked how it operated but hated how much space the base took up. I wanted square due to the fact it butts up nicely against my pergola.
I mounted a 2 3/8 galvanized fence post in the ground, the shaft of the umbrella fits perfect. I did away with the base and drilled a hole in the post and umbrella shaft and ran a auger pin thru to stop it from lifting up and locking in place when not in use. Umbrella will now swing over a seating area and my grill. I also was able to raise the umbrella canopy up in height due to the height of the pole.
Painted the pole to match and called it a day.
