Can the legs be anchored to a wooden deck ???

Asked by: xraylane
Yes they can, I anchored mine into concrete, keep an eye on the base, as within 9 months thet started to rust, so cleaned them up and repainted with rustoleum, and added caulk ( pained at the seam where the base and column meet to eliminate moister buildup

Do the legs need to be placed on a solid structure...such as concrete, wood deck...Or can I stake it onto the yard...

Asked by: JiminFla
While the legs do have decent sized feet, you could stake them into the yard. Strong winds might vibrate them loose, though.

How and where can I acquire a replacement cover for this item ( Hampton Bay Pergola 9.5x9.5?

Asked by: Bob F
You can purchase from Home Depot online, I did but it is not true to size :( They say it fits a 9.5' x 9.5' Pergola but the canopy dimensions are 8' x 7.4' so not understanding this!! I am truly disappointed that it is not at lease 9x9 canopy to cover the whole inside.

9-1/2 ft. x 9-1/2 ft. Steel Pergola with Canopy is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 338.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Canopy died in 2 inch snow So bought this clearanced in store in 2014. We to put it up until Springs 2015 so it could last through one summer at least. Now January 2016. We've had one snow in St louis, Mo. 2 inches the canopy cover is split in the middle in 3 places. We will be lucky if the canopy makes it this summer. Because of the design removing the canopy would meant taking apart a good chunk of the top so we opted against that. The frame seems be holding but replacement canopies cost much the whole thing clearanced. We either make our own canopy out of a tarp or something else. Not good buy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far so good... Assembled and installed it on my own---possible, but not really recommended. Took my time and followed instructions closely. All parts and pre-drilled holes were good. I installed it on a concrete backyard patio. Definitely recommend anchoring to something. It's sturdy but light, and a strong wind would almost surely have its way with it if not anchored. I was planning to anchor to pavers to weigh it down, but aesthetics become an issue the heavier/larger you go. Home Depot fella recommended going straight into patio concrete with anchors, using a special drill/drill bit for concrete (you can rent at Hone Depot). I used my DeWalt drill and went through 8 of those special bits and several hours drilling into the concrete (again---possible but not recommended if you can rent the proper drill), but got it done and it feels sturdy. Quite heavy winds, rain and snow since I installed and it's performed like a champ. Looks nice and I like the ease of extending/collapsing the awning. Happy with it and looking forward to other seasons with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to assemble Pergola The pergola was easy to assemble. It looks good, and it has already stood up to some serious winds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Hampton Bay Pergola We are pleased with the final product, however the assembly was a bit tricky if you are not handy. The video leaves out a few details. Step 4 does not work as easily as depicted in the pictures for inserting sections Q, S and O. There is a plastic threaded insert that is pre-installed and has a lip that keeps the sections from sliding together. I used a pry bar to slightly deform sections E, F and G enough to slide the insert lip in and then banged it to its final position with a rubber malet. My first impulse when I encountered this was to send it back, but I am glad I overcame this obstacle.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Outdoor Pergola - Nice but very small I bought this pergola because I thought the retractable canopy would be nice to give protection from the rain and sun in my yard, yet allow for viewing the sky on clear nights. It is up and standing, but there are a few things that potential buyers should know before they make the decision to purchase this product: 1) It is not difficult to put together, but if you follow the instructions and first build the canopy entirely as one piece, you will need at least 3 people (with ladders) to lift it onto the columns and make sure the bolts are fully tightened. It is a wiggly mess to move otherwise. 2) It is MUCH smaller than 9 1/2 ft by 9 1/2 ft. When fully erected, it is 8 ft by 8 ft to the outer edge of the columns (which is not all covered by the retractable canopy.) 3) The actual area that is under canopy cover and within the columns is only 90 inches hy 90 inches, ( important to know if you buying furniture that will comfortably fit.) 4) The canopy is NOT waterproof nor is it water-resistant. We had a very light sprinkle the first night it was up and water immediately seeped through and dripped on us. 5) The water pools in the canopy and is not easy to get off of the canopy. Important to know if you live in a humid climate and want to avoid mold and ever have the chance to sit under it and not get wet! This pergola looks great but has some challenges! I would highly reccomend spraying the canopy with a good waterproofing spray before putting it together, as it is very difficult to reach (even with a ladder) afterwards. Other than that, it looks great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good not perfect I bought this for my new deck to go over the dining table for shade (much needed in TN). Pros Low price for a pergola compared to other models Cons It took a while for 2 people to assemble (over 2 hours) but for the price, I think it serves it purpose and looks nice. It was missing parts - I called and they shipped them to me but it took weeks to get them. The fabric for the cover is not quality...I can see the sun peeking through already in some spots that look threadbare eventhough its only been up a month - I dont expect that cover to last long and it will probably need to be replaced without much use - rather than buying the replaecment cover - I might look into getting a custom one with better quality fabric (looks like it is going to disintegrate after one winter).
