Thank you for your question. This light kit is designed for indoor use only. For outdoor use, we would recommend a damp or wet rated light kit like model # 28547 or #7783300.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Only one complaint...…….I had anticipated being able to mount the fan right on the ceiling or usi... Only one complaint...…….I had anticipated being able to mount the fan right on the ceiling or using a very short mounting stem but instead I found a 24" mounting stem and nothing else. I required either a flush mount or a 6" mounting stem at most. So I had to cut the 24" stem to length and re-drill the grounding lug hole and tap it before I could proceed with the install. You should really specify for the purchaser what installation scenario the fan package is meant for, not just a pretty picture on the box. When I approached Home Depot here locally in Placerville, they were of no help, really. The had no stems for mounting in the right color or length. I think they had everything but. So the packaging is the problem. Other than the install issue, the fan is very nice and we are enjoying it. It replaced a 52" fan that was really falling short in a rather large living room. And having the remote control equipment built in and ready to go was a very nice feature.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Be careful with what Altura fan model you pair this with I was purchasing the 68" Altura fan with wireless controls, and I was told by the associate at the store to purchase this light kit to match up with the fan. The light kit does work fine and matches with the Altura fine, but with the wireless fan, the bulbs interfere with the wireless unit. I installed this fan in a 17 foot room and didn't find out about the bulbs until after it was all installed. The unit works fine with aftermarket garage door bulbs, but it's not clear anywhere that these bulbs interfere with wireless fans, and the garage door LED bulbs are much more expensive than normal LED.I've also since found out that there are plenty of third-party light kits that will also fit this fan model. You don't have to buy the specific Altura light kit.

This light kit, while it works very well and installs easily on the Altura ceiling fan, Is the cheapest light kit I've ever installed. From the start, it feels like there is nothing in the box. Open it and you find the usual parts and they even made it to work with multiple finishes. The light shade is what boggles me. It's not just plastic, it's a white, cheap plastic that resembles a milk carton plastic. We figured once installed it might look nice, but no. It just plain looks cheap. This is a light kit for $50 to be installed on a fan that cost $230. We have 2 of these fans in a very large great room. Before the light kits, we loved the fans, after the light kits, it looks cheap, cheap, cheap. We now have to source out glass shades which will most likely be another $60 or more for 2?? we'll see. I would recommend the fan, but if you want the fan with a light kit, look elsewhere. These 2 fans will now run upwards of $700??. Very disappointing.

We purchased the Altura 68-inch ceiling fan at the same time as this light kit. We love the look of this Altura fan because the sheer girth of the blades attached to the brown motor assembly is really awesome. Wanting a light on the fan we thought it obvious to purchase the Altura named ceiling fan light kit. This is merely a universal light kit and a very cheaply configured kit at that. The " SHATTER resistant" lens shade has a nice shape but is made of light cheap plastic. The three standard light socket assembly is ok but just "universal" and can be purchased for 30 - 50% less with a glass shade. What caused me to write this review, the three LED bulbs inside the box are not dimmable bulbs. When using the dimming function on the fan, the bulbs would flash and oscillate in a panic. Replacing the bulbs with dimmable LED bulbs work correctly. This is the perfect example of badging a product with a model name and charging double the price even though it is misconfigured.

We were very disappointed with the plastic globe. I am guessing we will need to find a new globe soon as plastic will show the burn marks from the lightbulbs in not time I am guessing.
