Questions & Answers

What bulbs should I buy? It's for a kitchen light. Thanks!

Asked by: Lisa
The top level of t 5 bulbs are too high for this light. It must be kept low enough for the light to come on with a switch. The range is on the ballast.

how much for a replacement shade?
Asked by: Butch
Hi Butch, for your convenience I have linked below to our manufacturer Hampton Bay's product Use and Care manual per your specific inquiry. We unfortunately do not offer the replacement shade as a singular purchase on Homedepot.com. Also, we are not able to guarantee any replacement through them. Hopefully, reviewing their manual will be beneficial and help you with this particular situation. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Can Led bulbs be used in this fixture?

Asked by: karen
Hi Karen, While it is possible to use LEDS in this fixture the cost would exceed the price of the fixture. Purchasing a fixture with LED bulbs as original equipment would be a better choice. Mike

Arctic Glacier 2-Light Flush-Mount Ceiling White Fluorescent Light is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 35.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the few T5 fluorescent light fixtures Was looking for a light fixture that uses the newer T5 fluorescent tubes and found it at Home Depot. Had to buy the F28T5 tubes separately. Don't buy the HO F54T5, since the ballasts do not take them. Bought two fixtures with two F28T5 3500K tubes each to light up a 13'x20' family room, and it lit it up evenly and with nice soft light. Will buy another one for the kitchen.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Upscale Fluorescent Fixture This light is actually being used as a Vanity light to match the 3 bulb unit that matches this. It puts out a fair amount of light, but it uses 2 standard 28W T5 bulbs instead of 54W High Output bulbs. I like the way the cover attaches with latches (instead of those poorly designed clips that pop off or break the cover sometimes, it has happened to me many times). Overall works as expected to.

We choose this light because we felt like the shade would blend well with the ceiling. Originally we put up the LED version of this light but decided it was too bright and white. The LED had an intergrated light so you are stuck with the hue, so we ordered the small fluorescent lights. We ended up with neutral bulbs and love the look of the light.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very nice light fixture we use it as a bathroom fixture above the sinks (not mounted on the ceiling) and it looks very attractive and provides very good light.

The light cover was so warped it was almost impossible to put it on with the 6 swivel mounts. The light is annoying when you turn on the light switch and it takes about 3 seconds for the light to actually come on.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from light We used this light to replace our corroded vanity light. It is neat and clean and certainly brightens the room.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Lasted 45 days then quit Nice fixture, bright light, lousy ballast. Decided to replace it with a more reliable unit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I give it 4.46 Stars Least ugly interior fluorescent light out there and excellent value. This is a subtle light which is the effect we wanted...frosted globe (albeit acrylic) distributes light very well and you can't see the bulbs (unless you mismatch the Kelvin Color of bulbs and even then would have to look for it.). We wanted a light that wouldn't draw your eye but if it did, it would be noticeably ugly. This fits the bill! Amount of this light appears to be a little better than T12 that we replaced and it's more efficient (56W vs. 80W for twin tubes. Not sure if triple tube would be worth it unless you really need the extra lumens. It's cheap quality--mine was bent and the plastic ends seem can easily come apart. Definitely not for a shop or unfinished basement. Globe looks like it could scratch the frosting easily but does look pretty elegant and hope it doesn't discolor after a few years. Flush mounted and low profile and rated for "damp" conditions for bathrooms (except no shower spray allowed...that requires "wet" rated light. Oh BTW, Do Not use this light on a GFCI circuit as it will cause the breaker to trip! T5 lights are a bit expensive although a little more efficient too than T8 but the industry is heading toward T5 so they may come down in the future. Not sure if it's dimmable.
