Does this fan blow a lot of air

Asked by Corbey April 25, 2021
1
Answer

Sadly no, it does not. This writer replaced a 42" Gazebo with this 52" Gazebo in the hopes it would move more air and was disappointed. The "High" speed on this 52" is at best, a medium speed on any other comparable fan. I kept the fan and keep it on high at all times. Installation, instructions, workmanship and overall appearance of the fan is remarkable. Missing is performance.

How many inches is this fan flush mounted

Asked by KK April 18, 2021
1
Answer

I measured it with the down rod on and the fan blades are about 13.5" from the ceiling. The down rod appears like it adds about 4" so that would make the blades 9.5" approximate from the ceiling.

9 watt led bulbs are the highest that can be used with this model fan.

Instead of 2 9 watt led bulbs can i use 2 13 watt led bulbs

Asked by Ge April 2, 2021

Answer

No, the maximum watt is 9 for LED bulbs. You may use 13 watt CFLs but not 13 watt LED.

Can i buy a replacement globe?

Asked by Kristan March 24, 2021
1
Answer

Yes. Call the customer service number in the installation manual. I did and received within a week or two. Don't over tighten when putting globe on or you'll have to break it to get off. Like the fan. Do not like the engineering of the attachment of globe to fan.

Looks great, installation can be hard, but good purchase
I had some very old, installed when the house was built, fans outside. They still semi functioned, most of the lights were out and i had a few where bulbs would still contact. But they were painted an ugly color at some point, and I was looking for a more functional, and aesthetic fan. This one fit the bill. You can see the old fan behind the new one I installed (will do the other another day now that I know where the roadblocks are) Installation wasnt THAT different from the other fans I did in the house. My only real complaint is the housing at the top has very small screws, and if you don't have enough clearance like I didn't, you can't put those screws on. It's not supporting anything significant, so I just left in the ones you can twist the hole to line up on, and it's fine. I couldn't remove the lip the old fan sat in, because it's just open behind that, no wood. You get plenty of wire to work with, it's a very sturdy assembly, and it looks great! Happy with the purchase. The next test though is how it stands up long term to Texas humidity and heat. It says wet rated, so I'm hoping these hold up well. I also like that there isn't a place for wasps to nest in, that's a huge plus as that can completely ruin the innards of the fan and render it useless.

I really like this fan. It is packed very well with the fan blades double wrapped to protect them from scratching, Assembly directions were clearly explained. Everything fits together very well and there weren't any major issues. The only thing that was a challenge was attaching the light kit which doesn't fit that easily in the fan body and is held up by three small screws. If you have assistance it would help a bit at this step. Adding the light kit is optional so if you don't need lights you can eliminate that feature. The fan I replaced did not have lights so if you don't have lights in your fan now you can add lights with this fan. You don't need an existing fan with lights to make this feature work. It took me 1 1/2 hours to install it by myself and that was at a rather casual pace. Fan does have a slight wobble at high speed and the troubleshooting suggested that you retighten everything and run the fan for ten minutes to allow the fan to adjust. It may be get better with time but the wobble isn't that bad anyway. There is no wobble at the other speeds. Both chains have a smooth pull action and pass through a protruding hole that allows them to avoid hitting the light globe. In conclusion this fan is well made, operates well and looks great. The fan blades are reversible so you have a choice of "iron" which is very dark brown (?) or a walnut wood grain. There is also a lifetime guarantee on the motor. Well recommended.

8 am really happy with the Hampton bay gazebo indoor/outdoor fan. The finishes are quite nice and clean with a pleasant aesthetic to them. The install was easy enough. I have installed a lot of fans in my time so I was well equipped for the process. I installed this fan indoors and the breeze it creates is excellent. it mimics an outdoor breeze in my opinion.

This is the third fan that I installed under my Florida white aluminum patio cover. Over 20 years ago I installed a herculean Hunter 52 inch white outdoor fan with a short down rod because the patio cover has a slight incline for drainage. Unfortunately, this fan was a casualty of hurricane Francis that I failed to adequately prepare for. The patio cover survived, but the fan and pool screens did not. I replaced the bent fan blade arms, but it failed shortly later. The second fan was a 52 inch indoor Hunter fan that I modified by replacing the metal hardware with stainless. It didn’t have a swivel down rod, so I used door shims to mount it perfectly horizontal. It worked well for a few years until it also quit, probably because of the intense wet Florida weather. This is an indoor/outdoor fan for wet conditions. It is not white, but a pleasing natural iron color. The blades are dark but can be painted if needed. There are two 9 W LED bulbs light bulbs included. The one feature I noticed immediately was that each of the blade arms have two captured screws that attach them to them to the motor, which is an advantage over all other fans I have installed. All the other attaching screws have knurled edges making them easier to be removed with your fingers, a simple, but thoughtful feature. I was initially concerned about the green ground wire that was not attached directly to the motor assembly. I checked electrical continuity between the motor and the down rod and found it to be correctly electrically shorted. Removing the old fan is the most difficult part. There are sufficient warnings to ensure that the electrical box that is mounted that in the ceiling is braced for a fan. Installation is simple and the instructions are excellent. If you’re unsure about your ability to wire it, I recommend hiring an electrician.

Over the last 20 years, I have installed a half dozen ceiling fans of various brands. Each installation got easier and easier, not so much because of my increasing experience but rather the manufacturers made obvious and effective changes to make installation (almost) a breeze. Hampton Bay has taken a giant step back in time with this fan, despite the box boasting "25% quicker installation." First the good: the fan 1. looks great; 2. is high quality and is reasonably quiet, given the price point, 3. is reportedly pretty efficient, and 4. has a nice soft light. The downside is installation. The big issues are: 1. tiny screws needing to go into difficult to align holes with inadequate clearance (celiling vs the canopy) and in attaching the light kit to the motor assembly (having to hold the kit in one hand, thread/hold the small screw in a cramped area into a small, hard to align hole with the other hand, while grabbing the screw driver with your third hand). 2. installing the blades onto the motor housing after the housing is in place on the ceiling...this had been the "standard" installation technique until the previous brand I installed directed you to install these before hanging it on the mounting bracket which made things simple and quick. 3. the instructions for mounting the lighting kit to the switch housing need to be clearer as to the exact orientation of the kit. Conclusions: 1. what should have taken an hour or so to install, stretched to almost four hours! 2. if you decide to spend the money you save on this fan by hiring an electrician, the cons above become moot, and I could recommend.

Nice finish and overall good looking fan / light combo. The motor is a little louder than I’d like but not un-tolerable. Installation is about as easy as any other fan, they did attach the fan blade screws to speed the process a little. The speed selector switch only works after you pull it several times. It may be faulty or just temperamental. I had to play around with it to for 10 mins to get it set on the desired speed. Where it will stay. I’m sure it’s a $5 replacement part when or if I change it out. Nice overall fan and it moves plenty of air.

I had to remove another fan that was on it's last leg. The install went pretty good. It has a ball pivot the old one didn't have which makes it a lot easier to install. You mount the bracket to the ceiling and it is the socket and then just hang the motor assembly. The instructions cover everything ok. I have installed ceiling fans before and this set up is pretty good to work with. The lights aren't as bright as the one I replaced, but it will work good. It has three speeds and is reversible. I have run it both directions and all speeds and seems to be pretty well balanced. It was very well packaged in the box. The blades are a composite and it says indoor/outdoor so you could use it in a shop/garage if you wanted.
