I love the chairs. I would call the colorTeal. The assembly was work. It is heavy and well constructed. We were not able to align one screw in the back section on either of the chairs that had the Hampton Bay plate—maybe it’s attachment threw the holes off? I purchased 4 chairs and one of the two chairs in the box had the plate. I don’t think the lack of one screw will matter as they are so sturdy. As you can see in the photo, we needed the swivel for the tight space.

Visually pleasing, stylish design. Solid steel chair takes some time to put together. I love the red color of the canvas cushion covers. Its definitely a DIY project. From getting the cushions into the fabric covers to screwing and bolting the frame together. Everything you need to assemble the chairs is in the kit. I prefer to use two 13-MM wrenches rather than struggle with the thin wrenches provided in the kit. All the holes lined up great. The treads on the weld nuts are perfect. The finished chair is comfortable and feels durable. The curves of the arms drew me into getting these for my outdoor patio.

The cushions are different sizes and you will need to insert into seat and back covers. The bottom base unit also has extra mounting plates and make sure to follow instructions, all parts are seal for each chair, very comfortable and stylish chairs.

The Hampton Bay Harmony Hill with swivel and rocking motion chairs are very comfortable. I can see myself sitting in them for hours without getting uncomfortable. The arms are perfect height lounging or reading, and the rocking motion, while stiff is pleasant. I was very happy to see that Hampton Bay included extra assembly hardware and the tools needed to put the chairs together. I used the included tools to assemble the first chair, then quickly went to my tool box and found a 4mm allen and 13mm socket wrenches. While the included tools are functional, they make for slow assembly. The included cushions are good quality, but stuffing them in to the covers is a pain. My only gripe is the quality of the cushion covers. They look cheaply made as other reviewers have mentioned. Not a huge deal since purchasing replacement cushions is cheap and easy. Overall these are great chairs and will serve us well in the summer months.

Comfortable. That's my one word description for these chairs. I can sit in them for hours, literally. The rocking feature has a good range and good feel, but without that feeling that you'll tip over backwards. The cushions are soft, but have support. And they are big and have lots of room. Assembly is the typical bolt-together method. You'll want to grab a couple of 13mm or 1/2 inch box wrenches, because the included "wrenches" are super thin steel and pretty much non functional. Other than that, assembly is fairly straightforward, as there are only 3 pieces to bolt together for each chair. The spring attached to the main chair body has a solid steel shaft that fits into the base; the shaft is retained by a 4-claw plastic clip inside the base. This keeps the base from falling off if you lift the chair, but the base can still be removed without tools if needed. The base weighs about 6 pounds, the main part about 30 pounds, and with cushions the whole chair is about 40 pounds. Construction is mostly 18 gauge steel tube. The were some pieces of welding wire sticking out that I had to file off, and the weld quality is marginal on some areas, but there's enough to hold everything together. The spring assembly is made with plate steel pieces about 1/4 and 3/8 inches thick. The chair swivels on a plastic bushing. There is no metal support, and no bearing. It takes some effort to turn the chair, although I suspect the plastic bushing will loosen up after awhile. There are no sharp edges anywhere on the chair frame. Height to the metal seat surface is 15 inches - this is a standard height chair, and will fit under most tables. Seat width is 20 inches, plenty of room. The base is about 23 inches in diameter, making it really stable. The armrests are almost 2 inches wide, and comfortable. The back cushion is poly fill, about 2 inches thick. The seat uses a foam core, covered in poly fill, and is about 3 - 4 inches thick. The slip covers are polyester, and although they are the typical outdoor heavy denier (i.e. coarse) fabric, they are actually pretty soft. None have any significant odor - just a light smell like new fabric that goes away in a day. The covers have a single zipper on the back / lower edge. The back cover has a curve (hump) on the top, but if you push the cushion in correctly (it is a rectangle, not a square) and massage it a bit, it actually conforms to the curve. Despite the minor welding issues, I like these chairs and find them very comfortable and useful. They look good, they are easy to maintain, and with steel construction they should last a good while.

Positive points: 1. The chairs are very attractive 2. I thought the metal fabrication was high quality 3. The pivot and rocking action works nice 4. Packing was very good. 5. Their hardware was nicely packaged, and they gave one spare of all the bolts, nuts and screws for each chair. 6. The round base has 6 rubber “feet” to keep it off the floor, and hopefully minimize rusting. Negative issues: 1. Since these are steel with rust potential, I was hoping the painted finish would be robust. I assembled the chairs inside the house for protection, but still ended up leaving a couple scratches on it, down to the metal. Looks like they didn’t even primer the pieces. I used to work at CNH, and we had a baked-on paint finish which was extremely durable. I see the chairs have an info sheet, where they recommend waxing the chairs to improve its rust protection. Pretty cheap. 2. Assembling the chair sides to the seat was awkward. They use round headed screws with an attached washer, and then had their location directly under a steel slat. Anyway, most were unable to screw in by hand, so you had lots of partial turns with the Allen wrench. You about 13 threads to screw in for each of the 8 screws. If these were hex headed, it would have made the assembly much easier. 3. The cover for the cushions come separate from the padding. I noticed a lot of threads tangled up in the zipper. I initially thought it was just sloppy work by the person sewing them, but then noticed the fabric is unraveling. I was careful to avoid pulling any additional thread as I stuffed in the padding. I just hope this material stands up. Misc. comments. If you have a 13 mm socket and box wrench, it will make the assembly much easier. The nuts are the self-locking type, so you must torque them all the way. The package does include a couple throw-away wrenches for this, so it would be possible to assemble without other tools. If these chairs were aluminum, they would definitely be a 5-star product. Even a robust paint job could have kept it ranked high. However, due to rust concerns and concerns over the cushions, I’m dropping the rating to a 3. If you are buying these chairs for a fully enclosed “patio”, then I’d give these chairs a 5-star review. However, most applications will have these chairs exposed to the elements.

We like our new rocker/swivel dining armchairs, they look substantial and are easy to assemble but the seat covers that were separately supplied didn’t match the shape of the foam cushions which takes away from the aesthetics of the seat back cushions. We have a 6 seat patio dining table that we bought several years ago from Home Depot which came with a couple of swivel chairs. We decided to upgrade with these Hampton Bay Harmony Hill motion chairs and they fit perfectly under the dining table. Assembly is pretty straightforward and even the tools are included. I really like that the various fasteners are packed in a clearly labeled blister pack as opposed to all being stuffed in a plastic bag where you have to figure out what is what. It makes assembly so much easier. I put both chairs together in just over 30 minutes. The slip covers for the chairs are shipped separately and this is where I ran into some issues which detract from my overall impression of the chairs. The Chili Red slip covers (part 1004585972) we received are for the Hampton Bay ‘Laurel Oaks’ style seats which are also available at Home Depot. Unfortunately the shape of the seat back cushions are different between the Harmony Hill and Laurel Oaks collections with the Laurel Oaks seats have a more pronounced bump on the top of the seat back cushion. The Harmony Hill foam seat cushions are square, so you end up with a part of the top of the seat cover without much padding in it that makes it look a little untidy. I tried removing and reinstalling the seat back slip covers a couple of times without being able to fix this but it may get better over time with use. It also helps to make sure that the padded batting is smoothed out over the foam before trying to insert the foam into the slip covers otherwise you can get some bumps where the batting has folded back over itself. I also searched on Home Depot's website and couldn't find any slip covers that are specifically compatible with the Harmony Hill collection. Once assembled, the chairs are comfortable to sit in. With a floor-to-armrest height of 26 ¼” and 23 ½” from outside of armrest to armrest, they fit perfectly under our dining table. The chairs and the slip covers come with a three year warranty. To clean the slip covers, you just use dish soap and water. The chairs are made in China and the slip covers are made in Taiwan.

I am pleased with the overall quality of these chairs, and they are quite comfortable to sit in and look quite lovely on the patio deck. I will say however I did not appreciate some of the assembly that could have easily been done at the factory but I guess perhaps it would of made packaging the chair require a slightly larger box? I don't know, but it was a little tedious.

I Really like the Hampton Bay Harmony Hill Steel Outdoor Patio Motion Dining Chairs with Cushion Guard Chili Red Cushions (2-Pack). Assembly was a bit tricky. I usually enjoy assembling products, learning how the items go together in case of future issues. I found the assembly of these chairs to be a bit of a chore. The first challenge was deciphering the orientation of the chair parts in the illustrations of the instructions. The basic drawings of the assembly steps made it very difficult to orientate the pieces during assembly. Several times during the assembly I accidentally assembled parts upside down or backwards, causing me to have to disassemble and then reassemble parts. Even screw size choices were difficult to understand. I also found the packing paper and very strong tape to be time consuming and a pain to remove from the various parts of the chair. (Word of caution, Be VERY CAREFUL using a utility knife to cut the strong tape. I accidentally scratched the chair frame when I cut through the tape and packing paper. A possible place for future rust to start on the outdoor metal chair frame). After finishing assembly, My wife and I found that we really liked the look and comfort of the swivel patio chairs. They are the perfect height, making it possible to reach the floor with your feet. They also have a bit of a play designed in the chair, making a small rocking motion possible for those of us that are somewhat fidgety. The Chili Red Cushion covers are eye catching and stylish. I believe the chairs add a touch of class to the look of our outdoor living space. I would highly recommend the Hampton Bay Harmony Hill Steel Outdoor Patio Motion Dining Chairs with Cushion Guard Chili Red Cushions to anyone looking to update their deck or patio living area. I would however caution about the inadequate instructions and tricky assembly of the chairs.
