Can this be installed on a sloped ceiling with a longer downrod? The installation instructions seem to indicate it can, but the description only lists a flat mounting installation.

I would think so. I have an open ceiling studio that slopes from front to back and I have 4 in line with each other with different rod lengths.

my issue is the wall switch is digital and died after 2 weeks....the fan runs on high when no switch is wired in...luckily.. I had a old copper clad /// big white speed box/// to replace the digital Lutron copy switch...the fan is powerful and would buy again

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 60" Shop Ceiling Fan As others have indicated, this is a great fan. I bought two for my workshop, and they really move a lot of air at the highest setting. They're both quiet, with no rattles, and run very smoothly. I think the "airfoil" design of the blade really makes a big difference compared to other fans with flat blades. I love that the remote wired switch was included in the deal for each fan. Really a great price for the product, and I was relieved to see the silver paint on the fan blades wasn't scratched like others had experienced. Only drawbacks are 1) Like everyone else has stated, the numbering on the switch is "backwards" -- i.e. the "highest" setting (4) is the slowest speed, and the "lowest setting (1) is the highest speed -- odd, but not unmanageable, and 2) while they are reversable for summer/winter air flow, you have to climb up a ladder, unscrew and lift up the top cover to access the reverse switch -- rather a hassle, but then your'e only doing that twice a year (if at all).

It generates more wind noise at the top speed setting, as compared to the other fans. This is due to the power of this industrial fan. However, it gets the job done very well for a large area. I feel a strong breeze in my living room and kitchen. Wording on the box states that it has a "remote switch". That led me to believe there was a remote control included. This product only has a wall switch to control the fan speeds. You may have an issue with finding a fitting wall plate if you have a 4 switch plate prior to install. The brushed steel look is not similar to stainless steel. It is more brilliant in the online pictures. Nevertheless, I still highly recommend this product for the price. You will not get a better price for the size and performance of this ceiling fan! The only drawback is that it does not have a ceiling fan light. I was aware when I purchased the item. However, it appears to have the connections to add one on your own.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Seems to be a good value based on other fans... Seems to be a good value based on other fans I have purchased. Heavy motor assembly and nice wall mounted switch along with heavy well designed blades are much better then thin metal blades on similar style fans. The only negative thing I have to say is that both my fans had one poorly machined thread on each motor that the fan blade bolts to. These bad threads would not allow the bolt to tighten up and I had to tap it out and used a different bolt. Of course I wasn't able to identify this defect until the fan was wired up and installed on the ceiling. If the store actually stocked these fans I may have exchanged them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed - well made. It is surprising this fan is only available on-line. I think it is the best fan Home Depot offers. It came well packaged, and though one box was broken, the fan was protected and in perfect condition. The assembly was easy, even changing the down rod. If one uses the short rod that is pre-assembled from the factory, they might not find the small reversing switch under the lower canopy. The instructions don't mention it's location. But other than that the installation went remarkably easily. The nicest part of the fan is the beautifully designed blades. They are actual airfoils, tapering from blade root to blade tip, and are progressively pitched along the blade length for great air-moving efficiency. The wall control fits perfectly into an existing switch box and the wiring is easy. I don't think the 0 to 4 numbers for fan speed that other reviewers question are an issue. In operation the fan is perfectly quiet, even at high speed. All I hear is air moving. With the mounting ball designed so well, the slight wobble the fan has at the highest speed is no problem at all. This is a very nice product.

Both of these rooms were hotspots so no matter how low I had my AC, you couldn't feel the air moving (both rooms had fans btw). I was a bit nervous about buying them because the rooms have average height ceilings, about 8ft, but I am SO happy I took the chance. These fans create such strong airflow that both rooms feel cold... and that says a lot since I live in Florida. I plan to buy one more to replace the fan in my living room.

The whole idea was to get the hot air down to the floor when I try to heat it in the winter. These two fans are more than adequate. Turn them on and seconds later the hot air is hitting the floor and spreading throughout the barn. The fans are quiet and smooth and provide a huge amount of airflow.
