The landscape transformers are Hampton Bay's lowest profile slim line power units which can be easily concealed after installation. These units are based on a potted toroidal core design that eliminates annoying buzzing sounds while offering the highest efficiency possible. Our Hampton Bay SL units meet the Department of Energy DOE mandatory requirement efficiency rating of VI. Utilizing state of the art sensing circuits our transformers provide dual safety functions that detect and react to a system overloaded or a short circuit condition in a landscape installation. Hampton Bay power packs provide convenient features and flexibility to design simple or more elaborate landscape lighting designs. The transformer includes a photocell and digital timer, a ground shield making it safe for use with submersible lights. The units are equipped with dual voltage output terminals (12-Volt and 15-Volt) which help compensate for voltage drops in high-Wattage / longer wire runs as well as to help reduce cable loss when using 15V LED fixtures.

Yes, it has a timer mode and a manual mode in addition to the photocell. You can mix and match modes. I have mine turn on by photocell and off by a preset time on the clock. Manual mode is mainly for testing the system.

If you are using a motion sensor that the transformer plugs into to control the power to the transformer, yes it will. You will have to put the transformer in the "PHOTOCELL AUTO ON/OFF" mode and do not connect the photocell.

Simply add up all the bulb watts for all the bulbs you are using then add at least 50 watts as a safety cushion. Or use LED bulbs that use much less wattage power.

Flawed design
Do not buy this brand. The design is flawed due to it being made out of plastic and the screws eventually detaching exposing the entite case. I though it was one bad purchase but I exchanged and bought an additional one with same outcome. They are in a safe location away from lawnmowers or being bumped. Main issue florida weather melts the inside where the screw connects the case. All three didnt last more than 6 months but broker after the 90 days return policy. Nice!

Really straight forward installation. Interesting feature is the clock holds current time. So if you want to put it on a smart/wifi switch, you can turn the power off and not lose your time on and off settings. Worth the extra ten dollars to get 80 more watts over the 120 watt unit. Unclear why it takes another $50 to move to the 300 watt unit.

(What's this)
This is a nice transformer with a slim profile. It's about the size of a thick book, measuring 8.5" x 5.5" x 2.5". In one of my pictures you can see it compared to my existing transformer, which is smaller, but only has a 100W capacity. The only disadvantage I see is the power cord is relatively short, only 3', so you need to set it up relatively close to your power source. One of my transformers I have set up in my garage window has a 6' cord, which allows a little more flexibility. If you are using a straight timer, this isn't an issue. If you are using the photocell, that device has a 6' cord to connect back to the transformer, so you have some nice flexibility there. You just have to make sure you can mount it close to your power outlet. The unit has a powerful red display, which you'll either want to cover with some tape or face away from your seating area or window, as it can be a little glaring at night. The unit has nice options to use the photo cell to turn lights on and off automatically, or turn on or off via at a set time. I set mine to turn on at dusk and then off at 11:00 pm.

I ordered this landscape transformer to replace one that I had where you had to set the clips to an on/off time. I installed it in under 10 minutes (I had to drill a new hole for the mounting screw). The instructions are pretty straight forward. You attach the the wires for the lights and the wire for the light detector thing. Then you set the time and choose where you want it to go on at a specific time or on with the darkness. You choose when they turn off, either a specific time or until sunrise. It works great and I'm happy.

(What's this)
A large wattage outdoor landscape transformer that can handle multiple landscape wires or independent fixtures up to 200 watts. Can be used to power a variety of 12 volt applications. Not crazy about the anti-glare screen, it just looks foggy and not sure you will be able to read it once it weathers. Cord length is adequate for mounting near power source. Auto on/off with photo eye. Standard installation with no surprises. It does the job on my new multi light illuminated sculpture.

(What's this)
This is a compact unit, and it's easy to use too. First, the unit is about the size of a mid-sized hardcover novel (3"x6"x8"), but due to its powerful transformers it weighs about 6 pounds. The case is a fully enclosed hard plastic made to be outdoors in the elements. It is well-made for its compact size and has no openings for water to enter. It's a small thing, but Hampton Bay provides a paper mounting template so you know exactly where to drill the two holes to hang the unit; the lower two screws can be easily drilled and secured once the top two are done. The lower two extend beneath the unit. Screws and wall anchors are included. The AC wire is heavy duty but only 3-feet in length, so you want to locate this transformer near an exterior outlet or install one where you want to locate it. The physical connections for your exterior lighting wire are for a single circuit of 200 watts. Connections on the SL-200-12A are clearly marked. You have the choice of either a 12 volt or 15 volt. The circuit has a built-in circuit breaker button on the bottom of the unit. A nice feature is that you get a photocell attachment that plugs into the base of the unit. This controls automatically turning on the lights at dusk and turning them off at sunrise. The unit has front panel user controls for the following modes: Manual On/Off; Photocell Auto (dusk to dawn); Photocell Timed (dusk to certain time on); and test. A quick note: Manual Mode is not an ON/OFF switch; it is designed to be a timed on and timed off setting. Written Quick Reference Guide directions are clear and helpful; Use and Care Guide is good in that it aids you in the type of wire to use for different distance and troubleshooting. This can be a great low voltage power supply for submersible rated lights (like for your pond or waterfall), although LED and incandescent lights will work as well. Testing the SL-200-12A showed it provided the voltages stated: In the 12-volt selection it produced 12.48 volts; in the 15-volt selection it produced 14.90 volts. In summary, this is a nice compact transformer that delivers 200 watts with user-friendly features in a sealed case.

(What's this)
I don't work with electricity too much but was able to figure this out. I am a little handy, though. We initially got this for my backyard but moved it up to the front yard because it was a 200 watt transformer. We were right at 160 watts so we went with a a higher one for the backyard. The front was only at 90 watts so this 200 is semi "future-proofed" since it's smaller and prob wont ever get up to 200 watts. The quality is great, it's small and hides behind a deck and plants pretty well. I purposely kept it out of the sun so it doesn't age and break faster. Box comes in at 6.6 lbs for whoever was wondering.

(What's this)
This is a great low voltage transformer, we've been very happy with it so far. Installation was a breeze, plug it in, choose your start/stop type, screw in the photo sensor, and attach the low voltage leads. Mounting the unit was a breeze. The box includes a sticker that templates the mounting holes... just stick it to your wall and drill through the center of each spot and your holes will be perfectly aligned. The photo sensor is just screwed in the bottom and can be mounted anywhere you want within a few feet of the unit. When you power it up you toggle between on at dusk/off at dawn, on at dusk/off after a certain number of hours, and manual on/off. We connected this up to our front walkway lights to test and verify everything (and it works great), so next week we're going to move this more powerful transformer to the back and use it to power some deck and hot tub lighting. I did some testing and it appears to remember your setting preference between power losses / unplugs. We're hopeful we can connect this to a switched outlet and kick on those hottub lights only when we want.
