Yes, definitely an advantage.
yes. I haven't used mine but it is easy to put on and off
Yes! It has a heat shield on the bottom - for that purpose!
Yes, it does. Very easy to install.
Hi James, Must be referring to this warning. Do not use without the wood grate placed on the bottom of the firebowl. Do not use more than 5 lbs. of firewood on the wood grate. See the assembley picture item "K" which is a heat shield. Make sure to assemble correctly. No need for a log grate to sit in the firepit. Use a half bucket of sand. You'll have plenty of air flow. Enjoy your time with the family relaxing by the fire.
Good Day Tine, The fire pit does come with a cooking grate that you can attach. I personally haven't used it, yet. The kids have only cooked marshmallows. Now if you are referring to a log crate where the wood sits a little higher than bottom. I've used a fireplace grate in my house but there is no need for a grate in the firepit. Isn't that great! Use a little sand ... about a half a bucket. There will be plenty of air flow. Let me share some of my scouting knowledge about fires. Gather all your starting materials, plenty tinder, kindling, fuel and lay them within easy reaching. Light your fire from the windward side. Use a handful of the tinder as a torch to ignite the fire. Feed the fire with the kindling from the lee side...kindling first, larger fuel next. My most successful fires are simple tepee style. Best of luck with getting that fire started. Enjoy an evening fire with family and friends. Social Distance and be safe and stay healthy.
That is what the supplied metal tabs are for.
30 inch or bigger will fit
about 30" square
I didn't paint mine but if your going to do it I would do it Before you use it
