      Answer This Question

A:  Hold the light button down until it is as low as you want the light. Yes it is frustration to not have that explained in the instrustions. Good luck.

A:  Thank you for your question. This remote has a dimming function and will dim the lights of the fan if dimmable bulbs are installed. This remote is compatible with most ceiling fans with a few exceptions. This remote is not compatible with DC motor fans, Hugger style fans, or fans that have a built-in receiver that can not be replaced. Please note that the remote includes a receiver which must be installed and connected to the fan and house wiring in order for the remote to function.

        by|Mar 23, 2022

A:  You definitely need one or the other. If you’re using the remote you just need to press and hold the light button down, don’t let go or it will just turn it off and on. Sometimes it takes me a few times with the remote. If you don’t already have a dimming switch you could replace it with one and that will also work instead of the remote. Hope this helps!

          by|Mar 23, 2022

A:  The fan has to have a dimmable receiver installed on the lights, the remote is not a dimmer. If the fan has a dimmable receiver, constant holding the light button down will bring lights through full dim.

            by|Mar 26, 2022

A:  Your remote is slightly different than ours but should work the same, press on hold the light button and be patient it takes a couple of seconds to adjust.

Q:HAMPTON BAY CEILING FAN MODEL AC-374 SKU # 133-715 HOW TO REVERSE DIRECTIONS ON THIS FAN?

                Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. The direction for the fan referenced can only be changed using the original remote control. The Premier remote control does not include a reverse function and is not compatible with the Miramar ceiling fan due to the Miramar ceiling fan having built-in receiver. If you need a replacement remote, please call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678) and one of the team members will be able to help you order the correct replacement.

I installed this remote approximately 3 weeks ago and it woks very well for my ceiling fan. I have basic electricity knowledeg but this was the 1st ceiling fan and remote to a ceiling fan I had ever installed. I had no issues installing. The only issue someone whom may not know how to install one already, may have a problem looking at the schematic. It's very, very small. If you have that problem, take a piture of it with your cell phone then enlarge it to see it better.

The package does not say it can’t go in hugger fans, but it doesn’t instruct how. It just has down-rod canopy installation instructions, so I installed it in a fairly new Home Decorators fan with a down-rod. Directions and installation were straight-forward. Canopy brackets basically have a slot for the receiver to slide into. Just need to tuck the wires up in the box above it and around it. The receiver connects to one hot wire, neutral and ground, so if you have separate wall switches for fan and light, connect the receiver to only one of those wires and keep that switch on at all times. The wire from the other switch gets capped off and tucked unconnected, so its wall switch will be disabled. Then the remote controls everything. Ensure the code switches in receiver and remote match and set the O/D switch in the remote for the type of light bulbs being used. They say D is for incandescent and O for everything else, but really D is for dimmable and O is for non-dimmable bulbs. O disables the dimmer. Some LED and CFL bulbs are dimmable now, so can keep it on D for them. This remote has a lot of features- comfort breeze which changes fan speed intermittently to feel like a natural breeze, a brief delay off, 3 auto-off timers, dimmer and fan speed adjustments. Read the remote operation instructions because there are several special ways to enable and disable features like long presses that you will not know otherwise. The remote buttons are hard plastic and have good feedback. It feels solid. There’s no wall bracket but can just use a hook & loop tab on the back and wherever you want to secure it near where you use it, like an end table. It’s dumb to store a remote on the wall as the whole point of a remote is to have control from wherever you sit or sleep! And the delay off helps because you can turn it off from the bed/chair and it will wait a bit to actually turn off so you can still exit the room in light. If your bulbs are dimmable, the delay off dims the light so you know its engaged. It’s working great! I recommend this model.

This remote is an excellent choice for most ceiling fans. We just paired it with a Hampton Bay 60 in industrial fan for our patio and it works flawlessly. If you are interested read on and we will give more details on our first hand experience. What we liked most: 1. Easy to install, easy to access the dip switches, easy to use, easy to change batteries. 2. The "comfort breeze realistic speed randomizer setting" is something we have enjoyed. 3. The timer feature is something we use a lot. 4. It has good range and I can control my patio fan from my den. 5. It has a small switch that allows you to use it with LED, CFL or incandescent light bulbs. 6. The price is good for all the features offered. I hope this helps. We have attached some photos and posted a demo video at https://youtu.be/3rQHLGwy__4

I thought I could connect this to a fan that already has a remote with it and use it as an extra remote but I can’t. So it’s obv not a universal remote like it says it is.

Response from Hampton Bay ExpertJan 15, 2021
We apologize for any confusion regarding the remote. The universal description is meant to describe the remote's ability to be installed in most ceiling fans. This remote is not meant to be a universal remote like a universal TV remote would be. The remote includes a receiver that needs to be installed in the fan in order to operate. If you have a Hampton Bay fan with a remote and would like a second remote, please call Hampton Bay customer service at 1-855-HD-HAMPTON (1-855-434-2678) and one of the team members will be able to help you order the correct remote.
