I am a first time fire pit user so can someone please suggest some links on what kind of wood or logs can I use here ? and how do I start the fire in the pit ? like what to use ?
Asked by: Singh
Best to start the fire with dryer lint or a paper towel or newpaper (all dry and easily combustable). Add small, dry twigs on top of the dryer lint/paper towel/newspaper. Once small twigs start to burn, add slightly larger and larger sized peices of wood. As you add wood, make sure there is space between pieces (the larger the pieces of wood, the more space). Don't add too much wood on at a time as this will smother the fire and put it out.

I just bought this product and I see mixed online review on the paint peeling off the outside

Has this issue been resolved and how does it effect the integrity of the product, is there is recall or warranty for this product?
Asked by: Soldierdoc
If you put it away when your done using it and don't have it out in rain it'll stay fine.

Do you have to use the log grate or can you build your fire on the bottom of the pit?

Asked by: Mimi
Yes, the grate needs to be used on the fire pit every time.

The version we bought has a grate with legs. We put the grate in so it's about four inches from the top, and build a file on top of that. But a lot of photos we're seeing (and comment) make me think that the grate should be used with the legs up (to keep the logs in place) and the grate sitting on the inverted V pieces on the bottom, so the fire is deeper in the pit. We've used it about a half dozen time and can't keep a fire going. Wood is perfect, but every time embers are built up they fall through the grate onto the floor of the pit. So... which way does the grate go? Legs up or legs down?
Asked by: davey
Grate legs should be down. your covering the air holes in the bottom and smothering your fires

We typically have to use water to make sure the embers are all the way extinguished before we walk away form the fire. The thin quality of the metal causes me to wonder if this thing will rust out in the first year of use. We will wait & see!

I had an identical model from last year and the bottom rusted through. The new model recommends placing an inch of sand at the bottom—we’ll see if that extends the life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great pit Fire pit is great. Have mine for about 2 years. I keep it out side and burn a fire almost every weekend. I am in florida near the ocean and yes i do have alittle rust on the mesh grate, but what do you expect with the florida rain in the summer. I see alot of negaitive post but i must be one of the lucky ones. You cant beat the price for this pit. I enjoy it every weekend.

So far, no rust after two weeks of humid weather ownership, but it's steel, so that day is coming regardless. It doesn't seem to put out much heat due to there not being any vents around the circumference. The grate puts the wood up pretty high, almost preventing one from loading it in a way that would generate more heat. I'll flip it over during the next excursion to see if that helps (will lay flat on the inside bottom. Again, not sure what one could expect at this price, it gets the job done, though more ambience than heat.

Product works great but had a dent on the side so the screen does not fit right to the circle. Disd not want to return after putting it together but it does the job for having a nice warm fire outside.
