Unfinished Stationary Wood Adirondack Chair

A:  We stained. And sealed. (2 in one stain). Not sure about paint.

A:  I painted mine a few weeks ago with an outdoor paint and they have held up well so far! Then again, it has only been a few weeks. I will say it was a pain to paint this chair!

A:  I used an exterior stain (dark-colored) on them - put two coats on. They still look nice after almost 3 years.

A:  Yes, you can paint them. I plan to stain mine soon

A:  Yes, they are easy to paint and hold the paint finish well. We bought four of these chairs last year and painted them. Chairs stayed outside for the past year and the paint held up great with no problems.

A:  I bought a primer. Then two coats.

A:  I did mine after assembly and had not issue staining the two I purchased.

A:  It is easier to stain first then assemble.

A:  I would stain before if you can. Lots of small spaces that cause some dripping so before served me well after doing the opposite on the first chair of four.

A:  You can do either, but we found it easier to paint before assembling. You get a better finish and it's easier than trying to get paint into those hard to reach corners when it's assembled.

A:  Seems to be grain woog, maybe a hard wood like fir.

A:  Ours contained a lot of wood filler unfortunately which looks terrible because it doesn't take the stain

A:  Pretty sure it's pine. You'll want to use a wood conditioner prior to staining. If you use the conditioner you won't have stain irregularities.

A:  mine stained great, but I used a solid stain on it. needed to be sanded.
