Perfect Fit

Have a nice fan and added this light kit. I was shocked to discover the Globes are cheap white plastic. No way to upgrade to quality glass either as it doesn’t use a screw mount system but a cheap twist on.
it you want cheap this is for you. If you are adding to a quality fan stay away.

We have reached out to the manufacturer and their reply is,Sorry to hear that you were shocked about the globes. As stated in the product description and on the packaging, the light includes shatter resistant plastic shades. These shades mimic frosted glass with the added benefit of not breaking if dropped or hit/bumped with something. The shades also have the twist and lock installation method which makes it very easy to remove the shades for cleaning.

Let there be Light!
My wife wanted more light in the living room and the old ceiling fan light was not cutting it. I saw this Hampton Bay Universal Ceiling light on-line and thought I would give it a go. The light arrived very well packaged and included the bulbs which saved me a trip to the store. The installation was a breeze and any DIYer could accomplish the task in a matter of min. I have a Hunter ceiling fan and the molded plugs that are attached to the ends of the wires did not work because both white wires had male connections so I had to splice the wires which was no big deal. The color is a near match and the plastic shatter resistant shades look like they could be frosted glass to the untrained eye. The light hangs a bit lower than the old so we won't be doing jumping jacks in the living room any time soon. Overall I like the look of it and it gives off a very noticeable increase in light output which is the very reason we wanted it. If you like the style and need more light this should fit the bill.

Great addition to my ceiling fan.
I moved a ceiling fan that didn't have a light to a room that needed a light. I got this light kit because of the style. It is a universal kit so even though I had a different brand fan it worked great. The detailed instructions made it an easy install but I think it was easy enough that you don't need instructions. The shades are a light weight plastic so you can't use light bulbs that would get hot. The kit comes with 4 CFL 40 w bulbs and they are very bright. Great for the space I installed them in. It also comes with two chains with medallions so you can install with chains or not.
