If I use a longer downrod (24 inches) will the fan be stable, or will it wobble?

Asked by Judy October 13, 2020

Answer

If mounted correctly the fan should have minimal to no wobble.

Answer

On the back of the remote, switch the “D” and “ON” dip switch on the back of transmitter to decide the light in “ON/OFF” or “Dimmable” condition.

How do I change frequency channels on a Hampton Bay Winfield ceiling fan?

Asked by MrB811 May 6, 2020

Answers

There are 2 different styles of remotes and set up. If you have a black remote, the dip switch codes are located on the back of the remote and on the receiver, located in the canopy. If you have a white remote, You will need to reset from the remote only: Turn fan power on, press and hold SET button on the back of transmitter for 5 seconds within 60 seconds of turning on the wall switch, the transmitter learning is completed after the light flashes twice. The fan will calibrate for 3 minutes. You may call Hampton Bay for assistance at 1-877-527-0313

Not to be rude and correct Ed the rep, but the manual page 4 figure 6 is a generic illustration and does not correctly reflect the details of this model. Page 9 figure 15 more correctly represents this actual model. There, you will see if you look closely there is a small dot showing a fastener on the coupling cover just inboard of the long bolt that attaches the motor upper electronics cover. When I received the fan out of the box, the two small pan-head chrome philips screws were already installed on the electronics cover - I had to remove them, and then reuse them to attach the coupling cover.

You can buy GU24 to E26 socket adapters for just a few bucks. The globe is large enough so that an A19 bulb would still fit even with using the adapter.

where can you buy a replacement globe. Our came broken.

You may order a replacement glass globe by calling 1-877-527-0313.

How bright is the light that comes with this fan? Two 13-watt CFL Bulbs do not sound that bright...

Asked by Sharman March 10, 2018

You are correct - the provided 13 watt CFL's are not that bright. They are ok if all you are expecting is just an over-all light in the room but, if this is going to be your only source of light for reading or doing detail work you will probably want another lamp fixture or upgrade the bulbs. Can LED's be used in the fan? Yes. There is a small switch in the remote that must be changed - one side is for CFL bulbs and the other side is for incandescent or LED bulbs. In the manual it says that the dimming function will not work in the CFL mode. What is the maximum wattage? I have good news and bad news. Bad news is that it comes with the GU24 socket base - this is the newer base with two pins that lock in place with a 30 degree turn. Unfortunately, this is a government forced trend to prevent the public from using light bulbs that the government doesn't want you to have and this is showing up in all the new ceiling fans. The good news is that this globe is HUGE (12" across) so there is probably room to put a GU24 to E26 screwbase adapter on and go back to using the common E26 Edison screw base type A19 light bulbs. There is a small note in the manual that says there is a 190 watt protection circuit in the lamp. That is, if you try fit the lamp with more than 190 watts, the lamp will do a protective shut off. In that case, you would have to reduce the lamp wattage and then recycle the power to reset the light. The good news is that since you posted this question, the light bulb after market is finally catching up and offering a lot more choices for high-lumen LED bulbs in either E26 or GU24 bases. But the GU24 bulbs are more expensive... no good reason, just because. You should be able, with the new (but expensive) high-lumen LEDs, get all the light your eyes can stand and still stay way below 190 watts. If you slightly angle down the sockets in the light fixture, you could probably even fit the slightly larger A21 bulb size (still uses the same base) but gives you more options for the higher lumen bulbs.

What is the exact width of the canopy where it meets the ceiling?

About 5" in diameter.

When you turn the light on with the wall switch, is there a delay or does it come on instantly?

Slight delay due to DC motor.

Can this fan be hardwired or must it be used with wireless remote?

Asked by TJ August 25, 2016

The power hook-up is only three wires: hot, neutral, and ground. I do not see a way to seperate power to the fan and to the light except by the remote.

What I hoped for!
I have a place in Jamaica, where electricity is around US$0.50 per Kilowatt hour! compared to my $0.12 in Florida. Too expensive to run A/C. This unit was not the simplest to install, but makes up for all the effort in power savings. I estimate its paid for itself in the year I have it running almost 24/7. A regular A/C motor fan uses around 45 watts regardless of speed but these DC motor unit uses 3 watts at speed 1 and around 25 watts at full hurricane speed (6). Great buy and is attractive too, not to mention no noise or humming! Well worth the price. The remote does all the work but don't loose it...Good price compared to other DC fans.

Super quiet, great-looking fan
I bought two of these fans and they are great! They look amazing and they're the most quiet fans I've ever (not) heard. The only thing I can't comment on is installation as our house builder did the install for us. Everyone who comes in to new house comments on the fans and asks where we got them

Nice fan
I installed this in my master bedroom. During the summer we run the fan all night long so I wanted something energy efficient...and you can't beat this. It's nearly 3x the cfm/watt as any other energy star ceiling fan. Only issue I had was one screw hole to hang the glass for the light fixture was to small...and the Decorative screw wouldn't thread. Just used another screw in its place. If you pay attention you'll notice...but that requires paying attention, which no one does.

We bought three and had them installed by an electrician. Two worked fine. One did not work when installed. We had to purchase a new one. HD was good about a return credit, but I think new purchases should work out of the box. Without a professional I don't think I would have figured out how to configure the remotes on separate frequencies so they don't interfere with one another.

We were looking for a very quiet fan that had multiple speeds. Shopping around I noticed that most of those were priced over $400 but then I finally found this fabulous fan which is now hanging in our bedroom. It is whisper quiet and has enough speed adjustments to make us very comfortable.
