No, this is a hard-wired door bell button only.
Metal base and plastic light part
This is flush/surface mount. All you have to do is attach the two exsisting wires from the old one to the new one then push the excess wire back in to the hole they are coming out of, and screw the new one in. I was able to use one of the previous holes to screw the new one in but the other didnt line up. Still, that wasnt a problem as it screwed into the wood very easy.

Yes you do if you have a newer electronic door chime! I to research to figure out why mine would not play all of the ring sound. You would think they would mention it somewhere on the package.
