Works with Nest Hello Doorbell
Bought to complement a newly installed Nest Hello Doorbell and as a replacement for an old mechanical chime. When wired the chime works perfectly with the Nest Hello. The supplied diode was not required for installation with the Nest Hello, but was needed for the old style push button doorbell switch. The chime is loud at full volume and has multiple choices of chime tones. Easy installation when replacing existing wired chimes.

HURRAY!!! IT WORKS WITH MY NEST HELLO VIDEO DOORBELL!!! It actually installed quite easily. I hard-wired mine myself. But then...came the DIODE!!! Don't even waste your time!! I wasted a lot of time with the diode! I spent at least an hour or more fiddling with settings and re-wiring, installing and re-installing the diode according to their directions, facing the diode in every direction possible...and COULD NOT GET IT TO WORK properly! With the diode in, the doorbell went off erratically and sometimes not at all when pushed. Then the chime rang incessantly without stopping over and over til my husband and kids thought they would lose their minds. The chime also seems to play every chime twice, which is a little odd. I finally just removed the diode, and it worked as designed...EXCEPT it short-played the song and cut it off early during the repeat. THEN THE MAGIC HAPPENED!!! I found a setting in the Nest Hello app for the doorbell that allows you to control the exact "duration" of your electronic chime!! THAT FIXED EVERYTHING!! It is the app itself that is cutting off the song early. The max setting in the Nest Hello app currently is 10 seconds long, which is NOT long enough to let it repeat its chime twice like it likes to. I'm wondering if it is repeating just to fill the 10 second time?? I simply timed the tune I wanted and set the chime duration in the app to match--and magically IT WORKS PERFECTLY!! I change the duration every time I change my tune, and now I don't have to listen to it repeat itself either because I cut it off after one go through. Hope this helps!!! To find the setting in the Nest App: Hit "settings" button at the top of the home screen where you select and view your doorbell/Scroll to very bottom and Select your doorbell by name/Scroll down to "Device Options" section and click "Chime Duration"/Toggle to select electronic chime and move the slide to select your desired duration. (See image in review for view of the option screen) GOOD LUCK!! (I gave it 4 stars because it works well now and was initially easy to install if you skip the diode. Docked a star because the diode instructions were BEYOND HORRIBLE and the diode was dysfunctional even though the instructions make it seem mandatory to add, and the unit seems defective with it installed, which almost got me to return it and give up completely. All in all, it was a frustrating process with a great final outcome!!)

I love the door bell. I installed the door bell for wired usage. It was easy to install, there is control of the volume or loudness of the door bell, and there are 17 tone/chimes to choose from.
Things to consider when purchasing the door bell: 1) the button is sold separately because it is different depending upon wireless or wired installation; 2) wired installation requires a transformer and wire if it is a new installation, which mine was; 3) installing a new wired door bell requires a power source for the transformer and work routing the wire to the door bell button.
Comment: I was able to attach a power cord to the transformer and plug it into a near by outlet in the attic. Could have wired the transformer into the outlet box but liked the ease of unplugging power to the transformer should I ever have to work on it or replace either the doorbell button or chime.
I am very happy with the door bell and recommend it.

Product worked great on the third try. It's easy to install, especially since I was replacing an existing wired doorbell. First one I could test the chimes but it wouldn't respond to the doorbell button being pushed. The second one did work but I gave up after the 2nd phantom ring. I know they were phantom because the first one was the back door sound and I don't have anything connected to the back door. The second one was the front door at 8 AM but nothing showed up on my front door camera. Home depot was great exchanging the first one and the company sent me the second replacement which I've had no problems with so far but it has only been 1 day since it arrived. The chime selections are great and I've got my fingers crossed this one will continue to work.

A quick upgrade, but volume limited
I had an existing 30 year old wired doorbell, which surprisingly is a lot harder to find wired replacements for than one would think. Luckily, this combination wired/wireless doorbell from Hampton Bay does the trick.
INSTALLATION
Installation was a piece of cake. Four holes, two wires later, and your new doorbell is in. I found the manual quite comprehensive, and it covered troubleshooting for either method of use. It also included the 16 tunes played list, which is something i was unable to find online. Since it is a purely digital system, powered off of an AC transformer, a diode needed to be installed on the switch. This diode was included, and pretty simple to put in. Total install time was less than 20 minutes.
USE
The doorbell is incredibly easy to configure and change the volume: something that was lacking from my 30 year old bell. A single button cycles between tunes, and a volume pot adjusts the noise level.
SOUND
Here is where i have mixed feelings. Of course the sound has a very digital "tin" sound to it, as it is generated from a speaker. Certain tunes sound absolutely awful. Other are passable, but there isn't anybody that will be fooled that this is a real "bell." What's worse, is that when you cross the 2/3 volume level, the sound gets entirely scratchy and distorted. The volume increases, but for all intents and purposes, it's unusable. The good news is that just below the distortion threshold, the speaker is plenty loud.
SUMMARY
Overall a good digital doorbell. Installation was a breeze. A nice large selection of 16 different digital tracks are available. Speaker quality is acceptable, yet turning up the volume higher than 2/3 distorts the sound completely.
Bought the door bell a few years ago and it worked perfectly with my ring door bell and without it. Then a few months ago it started randomly ringing any time of day and also buzzing occasionally. I first call the number on Hampton Bay brochure that came with my door bell and it led me to Home Depot and to their credit they tried for over a week to get a hold of Hampton Bay and they would never return their call. HD finally issued me a gift card for the amount of the door bell.
