This is a nice knife set that includes a wide variety of food prep knives including heavy shears, plus 6 steak knives. The knives are comfortable in hand, sharp, and attractive looking. The block is classy looking and functional. I like the variety but especially the utility knife and paring knife get the most use in my kitchen preparing fruits and vegetables.

What a beautiful set of cutlery. These knives look impressive and expensive. They are very sharp and will remain so as long as you don't put them in the dishwasher. I like the choice of blades that you have so you can cut just about anything from Bread, to pealing apples to cutting steaks and roasts. They store nice in the hardwood block with each knife having its own slot. The kitchen scissors are great for cutting chicken and other things in the kitchen, This is a high end set of blades. I highly recommend this set to those that want to make an investment that will last a long time if properly cared for.

When it comes to cutlery one can spend just $300 dollars on one high end knife or a thousand on a high end block of knives and still not have paid for the best. Since most of us do not make a living as chefs and we want a good selection easily accessible and will not have a panic attack if a tip was to break off, or a knife was misplaced than this is a great, inexpensive set that comes very sharp, great variety and has a set of six steak knives as well. I have owned one of the more expensive blocks for quite a few years, but since installing a dishwasher and not understanding what it would do to this brand, we basically screwed up all the handles and made them turn dull and loose so we needed something new and knowing that the steak knives, paring, bread and chef's knife were basically the ones we regularly used that there was no sense in spending a fortune trying to impress people by our quality knife set that no one ever seemed to notice anyway. A few things about the block itself is unlike the other brand the sleeves seemed to be cut as so the knives fit in tighter unlike the other where it seemed it didn't matter that any particular knife had a spot so you actually know by the size of the opening what knife you are likely to pull out as if it has a dedicated spot. That being said, the block itself could have been sanded smoother before they sealed it. It has a rough feel, but does not have a rough appearance and it's all blemish free natural vertical grain. The handle is softer than metal or wood with some texture for grip. I can not tell you how far the tang is incorporated into the handles or find that information, but considering the warranty you shouldn't be concerned unless you forget to register them. We have used them to cut up steak, pork chops and salad and they all cut like new sharp knives. How long they stay this sharp is a question that I can't answer, plus I like the serrated steak knives unlike smooth that even the great names need to stay constantly sharpened to cut meat without the same sawing motion of the serrated. This block does not come with a sharpening stick. Personally the kitchen shears that come with this are not that great and they should either consider making improvements to them or replacing that spot with a sharpening stick even if they need to markup the price because I believe this price is way low for what you're getting considering the 25 year warranty. Make sure to read the warranty because like my old set that I damaged these also are not for the dishwasher and are not to be soaked for long periods in water.

This is a FANTASTIC set of knives !!!! I've never owned a set of knives like this before, I have several carving knives and they all sit in a drawer rubbing against each other making them duller than they already are.. This set comes in a great wood holder that makes them easy to get at and keeps them much sharper than having them in a drawer rubbing against each other,,as well as keeping your hands safe so you don't have to reach in a drawer and grab a knife by the blade... The block fits great in the corner on my counter top which otherwise is dead space you cant reach stuff in, Every one of these knives feels sharp enough to shave with, In the pics below you can see how nicely they carved the London broil I cooked for dinner.. There is a knife for every use...They all have a nice grip to hold and carve/cut easier... You wont be disappointed especially at what I think is a great price

Overall I am satisfied with the product. The seventeen set provides me with a variety of different knives that serve an individual purpose. The knives themselves are awesome. Each knife has a plastic like handle that supports your grip really well. The base of the knife is also heavy so you have full control over it. The wooden base is larger then I would want. It takes up a lot of counter space.

This knife set replaced a 25 year old set that was much smaller and steak knives were in a separate block. I decided to treat myself with this one. The block is very well designed and actually have a great footprint on my coffee/storage bar I made a few months ago. The selection of knives are great with my all time favorite and my go to knife, the boning knife. I have never used it for boning but just about everything else from trimming crust off of bread to slicing tomatoes awesomely. That one knife in my old block was the reason I kept it so long, the almost same exact boning knife. They are well made and well balanced. They fit and feel good in the hand, look awesome in the block and has everything I will ever need in one handy place. The price for this quality set of knives is amazing. I am sure this will be my last and best loved set of knives I will ever own. Would be a great gift for anyone.
