I have countertops do I have to stain them and something else or just stain them

Asked by: Cliff
Cliff-your choice. Use a couple coats of stain. You can use right-away. Then if you want to permanently "lock-in" the countertops add a top-coat after a month.

Can this product be used on a butcher block counter top mounted next to my oven? heat is my concern.
Asked by: Laura
Laura--yes. I used the dark walnut and top coat that is on each side of my oven. It has been there for years and I have not had a problem.

Once sealed, will it have any sort of residue (oil) rubbing off on papers? I am using a butcher block as a desk top and don't want any sort of oil rubbing off on paperwork, etc.
Asked by: stephanie
Stephanie-Once sealed no residue will come off. Remember less is more-- apply a light coat and then rub with the grains of the wood with a clean cloth. Make sure its completely dry (usually several days) until applying the top coat. Once the top coat is on there will be zero problem.
