Good for pushing around water and wet dirt
I had just got this broom in time for three days of heavy rain and it worked great in pushing water around in the basement. The Harper premium outdoor wet/dry rough surface broom is exactly that, a broom that has stiff bristles that will push water or wet dirt on smooth to rough surfaces without leaving much behind. The box the broom came in was only 24 inches long and I wondered where the handle was. The 5-foot-long handle (60 inches) comes in three pcs. with the center section being a steel sleeve with a plastic outer covering. The two ends pcs. are wood (maple) with a “keyed” plastic insert that when inserted into the middle section become very strong with the Key keeping them from turning. The lower section attaches to the broom head via a plastic foot and bolt. The bolt threads into a metal insert in the broom head making the connection solid but this would not survive a twisting. There are two “outriggers” that attach from the handle to the broom head preventing the broom head from twisting making the whole handle-broom head connection very strong and durable. The connection of the outriggers to the broom head is with 5/16” lag bolts that can be installed with a wrench or socket set. These lag bolts are just snugged so as not to rip out of the wood. The assembly instructions were adequate with the total assembly time being 15 minutes, and you need a 7/16 and ½ inch wrench or socket set. The broom head is 24 inches long with stiff bristles. I have a stone basement so if it rains too hard, I flood and I found the broom able to move water to the sump pump with ease. On the driveway, the broom moved wet dirt (mud), smaller and larger rocks with ease. The broom felt solid with no creaking or groaning at the handle-broom head connection point. The box states assembled in the USA with global components, the components are marked made in China. I found this product to be well made and functioned with no issues. The only negative item I found was some surface rust on the inside of the steel middle section and the lower wooden section was warped. This warping of the lower section (broom head to handle connection see photo) is a common issue and has been reported on several reviews across the Harper line. In use, neither the rust nor the warping took anything away from the broom’s performance, it worked perfectly. Both are little issues, and this is a broom we're talking about. Recommended.

Very Sturdy Construction and Stiff Bristles!!
This broom is perfect for our outdoor sidewalks and flagstone patio. The very detailed instructions made it super easy to assemble. It took me about 30 minutes to gather up the tools I needed and assemble it. The Harper wood and steel handle’s circumference is almost 5 inches versus our other push broom with a circumference of 3 inches. Also, the Harper handle is about 2 inches longer than our other push broom. The black, steel section of the handle provides a comfortable grip that I found worked quite well. I tested the stiff bristles by scrubbing the square symbol on our sidewalk and I think it did a good job. Harper’s never-loose bolt-on connector and its 2 black, metal braces kept the brush head from twisting or loosen up from the broom handle. Made in China. I’m very happy with it!!

Almost a 5 star….
Ok first the reason I took off a star was because of the 3-part handle. After putting it altogether (2 minutes) it felt good however upon using it the bottom connection had a little wobble that you could feel with each stroke. After I identified the issue, I tried further tapping on my shed’s plywood floor but no change so what I did was to take a sliver of wood and inserted it to act as a shim (see photo). That worked but I imagine I will need to do a little more as that shim gets continuous pressure. That said every other part of this broom is excellent, 5 stars. The bristles are stiff enough but maintains flexibility. I cleaned out my shed and it was great. I have an older Harper that is as good now as the first day I bought it 25 – 30 yrs ago. So, when my shed broom broke, I wanted another Harper. It’s a great length, solid head, feels good in hands and absolutely cleaned on one swipe. If it wasn’t for the handle issue it would be perfect. I would recommend it to a friend but voice the issue.

Solid!
Good Broom. Inatllation is a breeze with socket wrench. The handle is extremely strong. By only gripe would be the handle outside that is black, was a little softer. The bristles are extremely stiff which I am very happy with. It's good for indoors and out but I can on using it in my garage/shop as well as the concrete outside. I feel that the synthetic fibers will last for years to come

Great for a dusting of snow or just moist debre on the hardscape
I chose the Harper 24 in. Premium Outdoor Wet/Dry Rough-Surface Hardwood/Steel Handle Push Broom with it's synthetic blue bristles. It will be replacing my old 24 in. push broom that had your standard straw bristle, that don't holdup to the dusting's of snow we get in the winter. It will also be nice for sweeping wet leave's into a pile on my back patio. It should last a long long time!
