I have had a flying squirrel in my attic for the past couple of weeks. I purchased, and set this trap yesterday, and at about 4 am I caught the squirrel. simple, easy to set up, great product. See photos below.

This trap works, I caught 7 squirrels
The trap was easy to use set and empty. I put peanuts in a metal tray from mints in the back. At first they would take the bait and not trip the trap. I added some screening around the back to keep them out and added a small mouse trap on the inside. I think the mouse trap scared them into hitting the trip plate. After that I caught a squirrel every day and twice I caught two.

catch and release
I needed a trap to catch some of the many squirrels that were eating all the birdseed that I put out. Very easy to setup and bait. Within an hour I had my first squirrel. Pickup the cage by its' top handle, put it into the back seat and drove about 3 miles out of town to a large wooded area. Set the cage down , pulled up on the side release and like a flash , the squirrel flew out and down the path into the woods. That was 12 squirrels ago. I need a way to hold more than one so I don't have to make so many trips. The trap works excellent.

fast action closing trap, squirrels are not fast enough for...
fast action closing trap, squirrels are not fast enough for this trap to get out. I have a much larger two door trap and with both doors open they escape, this trap is very fast acting

It works
I got this to replace another trap that a bigger squirrel was able to evade (it would only be partway in when it hit the trigger plate with enough of their body outside to keep the door from closing completely). I have caught 6 squirrels in 2 days with this one, including the large squirrel that was destroying my bird feeders. One minor drawback is that it can be hard to open the door to let the critters out while they are writhing around inside, but that also means the cage is built sturdily enough that it's unlikely the animal can escape.

HOME DEPOT DID A GREAT JOB FROM THEIR END. I WAS A LITTLE DISAPPOINTED IN THE TRIGGER DESIGN ON THE TRAP. I FEEL IT'S NOT SENSITIVE ENOUGH FOR LIGHTER CRITTERS SUCH AS SQUIRRELS AND OPOSSUMS WHICH ARE THE TWO CRITTERS I WAS AFTER. THE CAGE ITSELF IS INDEED STURDY.
