Small 2-Door Professional Live Animal Cage Trap for Rat, Squirrel, Chipmunk, and Weasel

This trap works! I had a family of squirrels living under my barrel roof tiles and this cage caught all of them, one by one. I had three squirrels within a week and haven't had a problem since. And as the brand suggests (Have A Heart), it is the humane thing to do. You might think it is easier to kill the animal with a lethal trap or poison, but that introduces so many problems you will regret it later. Take some time to read how to set the trap, otherwise when all your hard work pays off and the animal goes inside, they'll walk right out because you didn't have the locks set right. Test the trap by tripping the plate and make sure the doors close and are locked/secured. I caught the first squirrel by putting the trap near the base of the tree they used to climb up on my roof. She would go out daily to forage for food and return to the nest. Squirrels are most active in the morning and evening, so try to put the trap out early. I caught her within 24 hours of placing the trap. I used peanut butter. I drove about 5 miles from my house and released her into a nice wooded area. The second and third squirrels were a little more difficult to entice down the tree, so I placed the trap on the roof and within a few days had caught both. Took them to the same wooded park and released them without any issues or injuries. Main Advice - Peanut Butter, Place Trap Early in the Morning, Make Sure to Set the Trap Correctly with Locking Handles in Right Position.

Either I have a super squirrel or the product is poorly designed in that the squirrel runs right out the door before it is fully shut. Yes the door jabs were in the right position to lock door, still didn't hold squirrel in.

Noticed a couple days in a row that the landing on my basement garage stairs had some droppings scattered near the door way at the top of the stairs. Headed to HD to pick up a small double door trap. Set it up in less than 2 mins...peanut butter and some black sunflower seeds dabbed onto the trigger plate and then put it near the bottom of the stairs. I sprinkled some more seeds just at the opening to entice...turned off the lights and in less than an hour...BAM! Worked like a champ! Took him for a ride and released in a natural wooded park. This is the best trap!

I have been ising this trap now for 4 days and its incredible and worth every penny. I got the 2 door model but have it set for single door operation. I setup a Wyze camera in my crawl space to find out what was in my walls and found it was flying squirrels. Since i e set it up I have successfully caught 7 squirrels. Not aure if any were repeat offenders as i was releasing less than half mile away. Today i started taking them down to the park about 5 miles from my house. I actually purchased a small critter cage so after i trap them, I put them in the cage and reset the trap. Once i have a few i drive them to their new hone to save going back and forth. The trap works great and I have only praise for its design

If I could give this product 10 starts, I would. It really took care of the chipmunk problem in my front and back yard. It worked the first day I placed it. I was able to capture 17 chipmunks in 10 days. I had a huge problem with chipmunks in my front and back yard. They dug everywhere and even after replacing the mulch with landscaping stones and thick weed mat, they continued to dig through them. I contracted a green pest control company which put baits all around the house, and after a year, the number of chipmunks just increased. Out of frustration I decided to try these traps. I was initially worried about the hassle of having to trap the chipmunks and not knowing what to do with them. However, after capturing and releasing the first one, it became an easy task. For about 2/3 of price of a one treatment I was able to buy two cages. The trap captured both small and big chipmunks. On one occasion, though, an animal was devious and ate the bait without triggering the trap. I used peanut butter and topped it with an almond (the cherry on top :). Overall, an easy trap to set and use and highly effective. Well worth the money.

It can work for Fox squirrels if you use it in the single door open configuration. Fox squirrels are an invasive species in my area. If you use it with booth doors open, the little buggers get out because their bushy tail keeps the door from closing. To catch them follow the directions that come with the trap for setting it up in the single door mode and place the bait at the back of the trap, NOT on the trigger pan. Making them walk over the trigger pan to get the bait ensures their tail is far enough inside for the door to close. Be sure to cover the bottom of the cage with what ever dirt is in the area. Make sure that the door is not blocked by the dirt. Place a rock on the top that is heavy enough to keep any neighborhood cats from tipping it over. If the trap is tipped over the animal could escape. I have a trap set up under a bird feeder. In the past several weeks it has trapped 2 squirrels, 2 rats, and 1 sparrow. The sparrow was unexpected!

This trap worked great for catching small kitten. Make sure to set the trap so that the doors will close shut when it goes off. Once you set it right, it works like a charm!

It took a solid week before the chipmunks got comfortable enough with the cage to begin eating the snacks sprinkled around. Once it became a part of the yard, catching them was quite easy. We found the most success using no-salt peanut butter and sticking fresh almonds to the paste on the inside plate. The cage is very sensitive, and we had to reset the trap a few times due to a few "Houdini" animals! How they got the food, with doors locked, and escaped we'll never know. No worries as we were after the chipmunks living too close to the foundation of our home. This was an excellent and humane trap. Highly recommend Havahart.

It helped me to capture 4 squirrels so far. For the light weight squirrels, you may need to add weight on the triggle plate.

This live trap worked exactly as it should.
