Why does this sensor need a "switched circuit"? I hardwired it into an unswitched circuit and it ...

Asked by Patrick November 11, 2020

the sensor is the switch, providing you with a switched circuit to your lamps. power to the lamps has to be connected to one end of the sensor and when the sensor turns on, power comes out the other sensor wire and goes to the lamps.

Does it thread into a box or fixture to be hard wired,

Asked by Peter June 11, 2020

It threads into an existing fixture. I used this to replace a faulty sensor so it was a simple swap.

Asked by RJRICE February 26, 2020

I had a problem like that and found out that heat will not let light to turn on. I had a cam too close to the light. Check for heat sources around light could be a vent. I also setup the light in the house and tested it and it worked fine so you know the light is good. Hope this helps.

Asked by Raceway June 23, 2019

Absolutely. No problem. After removing the cover, unscrew the old sensor and screw in the 240 degree sensor. The wiring is the same. Reinstall the cover onto the box. Make sure the power is turned off while performing this operation.

Can you adjust the sensitivity of the motion sensor?

Asked by Jim April 22, 2019

The degree of the field of sight is adjustable from a wide field (240°) down to a narrow field.

Does this motion sensor have to be attached/wired directly to the light fixture it controls? My l...

Asked by FM April 11, 2019

Yes, you can install the sensor any distance from the lights you want to control. Be aware that you will also need to have a single-pole switch installed in the circuit for proper operation (as stated in the sensor's instructions). I used the sensor to control 2 wall mounted light fixtures on my storage building with the sensor mounted between them above the door. The easiest way would be to start at the wall switch that has the incoming feed from the power source (you need to have a neutral present). From the switch run 14/2 (UF-B cable if exposed to sunlight/weather or NM-B cable if enclosed in dry conditions within a building structure) to the light, then run 14/3 from the light to the sensor.

I ordered 3 and only 1 of 3 actually worked. The dimmable LED lights did not go off as I tested them with the first sensor I installed that worked with all the other lights so I could problem shoot that it was the sensor. I returned the other two sensors and bought another brand. The one that did work is awesome, but I really wish that the other two worked as I can’t easily exchange them at HD since they don’t carry them in stock and I would have to reorder them. I really liked how the red light sensor would light up during the day to tell me if the sensor would work as the other two did not - this was a pain as I was going up and down the ladder all day, wasting time on something that should not happen with quality control actually doing their job.

Installed two dual-bright lamps on one line. Don't seem to have any problems with this arrangement. The low light is moody, giving out sufficient light and probably looks good when approaching and before the motion detects and changes to bright. Save the planet and use original lamp parts!
