Product Details

Henry 201 fibered black roof coating is a premium cold-applied, brush or spray-grade asphalt coating in a solvent system. It is a penetrating type protective coating formulated to provide a tough, durable, weather-resistant film to protect existing roofs in good condition. The solvent system allows working at lower temperatures than with asphalt emulsions and the coating won't wash off if unexpected drizzle occurs before curing.
  • Fibered for durability
  • Designed to provide a thick waterproof finish for flat roofs as well as fill small cracks and moisturize newer and older pre-existing flat roofs
  • Apply with 3-knot roof brush (sold separately) to cover 50 - 75 sq. ft. per Gal.
  • Solvent-based, fibered formula for coating newer and old roofs year round
  • Meets or exceeds government standards for ASTM D4479 type I

Q:Can this be applied as additional layer on a flat roof that already has Henry Fibered Alumium coating? Can this be applied during winter months in NY weather?
    by|Nov 17, 2022
    1 Answer
    Answer This Question

A:  DIYAT, we wouldn't really advise the application of Henry 201 to a roof that has already been coated with Henry 555 Fibered Aluminum unless the Aluminum has been on the roof for several years. Henry 201 can be applied in temperatures as low as 40 degrees so it probably would not be advisable to apply it in a New York winter.

      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Mike, Henry 201 is a fibered black solvent based asphalt roof coating. It is a penetrating protective coating that may take 3 to 4 months to cure and should not be walked on to avoid tracking.

Q:I have a hot tar roof that has alligator cracks can this be applied to fix the alligator and any leaks?
        by|Nov 7, 2022
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Brandon, all leaks should be repaired with Henry 204 Plastic Roof Cement in a 3-course method of a layer of 204, embed Henry 181 fabric and then another layer of 204. Do not apply Henry 201 is there is a threat of rain within the next 24 to 48 hours. Henry 201 is a surface penetrator coating and seals pinholes and hairline cracks but will probably not fix the alligatoring.

Just completed install yesterday on my 700 s.f. low slope porch roof, applying over older roll applied asphalt roofing. A few tips on install for those thinking about doing this; don't even think you can roll-apply it. Use a roofing brush, and make sure you're prepared for a work out, this stuff is THICK. Applying in direct sunlight to a dark surface helped immensely, as the warmer the surface is the more spreadable the material is. There was a noticeable difference in ease of application in areas in full shade - v - full sun. Once it flashed off and dried, looks very uniform with little apparent shrinkage. We'll see how it holds up, but first impressions are pretty good for a day's worth of effort and $120 worth of product and materials (especially versus hiring a roofer to lay down a new membrane).

            Works well once applied
It was very messy to apply and remained sticky for two full days. Once it dried however, it was very consistent and the fibers bonded together to create a solid surface. It is a chore getting it applied, but I did it in damp, 60 degree weather. It is an easy way to prolong the life of your flat roof.

I used this on the bottom of a John boat originally wanted to use it inside since it has aluminum rivets it’s famously known to leak but it would of been much heavier I decided to use outside it is fibered works very good just as good as the sprayed on sealer with fiber in it everyone should give it a try this will last me a year or more thanks to Henry roof coating.
