Q:I had this material applied to a roof on one of My rental properties and now my tenant is concerned about inhaling the vapors inside the house. This was Applied last week in 90 degree temperatures and it probably still hasn’t dried. Is this stuff toxic?

Answer This Question

A:  BobP, Henry 208R is a heavy bodied refined asphalt with rubber fibers in a solvent system. Henry 208R will give off fumes for a few days while it cures. Normally this is not noticeable unless it was applied to a vent that takes air inside the building. If the 208R was applied to an air intake area it should be removed. Henry 208R is for exterior use only.

Q:can you use this along the crack where the brick wall meets the driveway ?

    Answer This Question

A:  Fred, you would be better off using Henry 900 Construction Adhesive and Flashing sealant. Henry 900 is made to seal areas where two dissimilar materials meet. Henry 900 creates a very strong yet very flexible bond that will last for many years.

Q:Can this be used to seal 0.5 in vertical cracks on a concrete ditch? If so, how long do I need to wait before allowing water to flow?
      by|Jun 24, 2024
      1 Answer
      Answer This Question

A:  Jrvs, we would not recommend using Henry 208R for that type of repair. You could use Henry 900 Construction Adhesive and Flashing Sealant since it does not contain asphaltic products or solvents. When caulking the cracks that are a half inch wide the depth of the fill should be at least as deep as the width. If the crack is deep you can use backer rod which is a closed cell polyethlyene foam back- up material. The backer rod is to regulate the depth of the joint to provide a surface against which the sealant is compressed when tooled, thus promoting better adhesion to the side walls.

        Pay more, get less
I have used Henry products for years, but never used their "10-year" Wet Patch. Thought I'd fork over a few extra dollars and try it. Upon opening the lid I discovered I'd paid more and received less (see photo). Disappointed...

7thgencarpenter, we certainly apologize for this problem. We are not able to view the photo on this platform so unfortunately we cannot exactly tell what the problem was. All of our cans of 208, 208R and 209XR are supposed to contain 0.90 gallons or more of product, if there was a can with less content than that we encourage you to please reach out to us directly at productsupport@henry.com or jszymanski@henry.com so that we can investigate this matter. Thank you for your comments and we look forward to hearing from you soon.

Still having issues with the roof. I had hoped the patch applied in the valley would have prevented future leaks. We’ve had heavy rain recently and the roof is still leaking. I’ll need to research further to determine the real cause of the leak

Finding a leak is usually a difficult proposition. Since the roof is pitched your best option is to get into the attic and see if you can spot a water trail on a truss or an electrical conduit. You can then trace the leak back to its origin and approximately where it is located on the roof. Thank you for putting your trust in the Henry Co and the Home Depot.

Good Products, but make sure to pick up yourself
This products is very reliable and easy to use. But HomeDepot used OnTruck for delivery and the can was broken opened inside of the cardboard HomeDepot box and the black tar all over. Un-usable and Un-touchable.

NanCH, sorry to hear of your experience. Not sure of your project, but a correct roof patching project would consist of using a layer of Wet Patch, followed by embedding a layer of repair fabric into the cement followed by another layer of Wet Patch. If the item was defective, I'd encourage you to return it to the Home Depot and reach out to our product support team at 800-486-1278.

              It works!
Three years ago, I had 3 roofers in to check on my skylight leaks. None could find it. They wanted to replace the entire roof. I purchased Henry’s WetPatch and mesh and applied a 6 inch border around each skylight. The leaks are gone. I’ve reapplied each year and my leaks have not returned.

              Ez application nice results
Last time we sealed our roof, I completely forgot about the mini roof over the back door and cellar stairs. A can of Henry's and some mesh was all I needed to seal the leak and even out a couple low spots. Rubber gloves are your friend so are plastic throw away trowels.

Awesome Stuff and Easy to Use
I purchased a tube of this wet patch to help flash a bathroom exhaust vent i installed on our roof. I didnt want to buy a bucket of tar and this stuff was affordable. Install was straightforward: just cut desired opening diameter, puncture the tube through the opening, insert into a caulk gun, and you are off to the races. I am by no means a professional but this patch was very easy to put on (but beware it is incredibly messy). I used a scrap piece of shingle to try and smooth the bead over all gaps, holes, cracks, and openings. I’m not overly concerned with the look since we are having a metal roof installed, but all things considered I was very impressed with this product, and will probably buy another tube to reinforce loose shingles and the chimney before the roofers get here.

really made a mess of my caulk gun
Product went on fine but both tubes i bought leaked out the back of the tube and made a real mess of my caulk gun. I would not recommend.
