Henry 287 Solar-Flex White Elastomeric Roof Coating is a premium, elastomeric, water-based acrylic latex coating. Highly-resistant to disbonding, chalking, mildew and discoloration, this coating protects your roof from the elements while significantly reducing energy costs. One application provides up to seven years of protection.

Highly-rubberized, water-based coating offers lowers interior temperatures
Lowers roof and interior temperatures
Reduces air conditioning costs
Bonds to most roof surfaces including mobile homes, motor homes, old tar, asphalt, metal, concrete, roll roofing and modified rolls
Apply with a brush, sprayer or 3/4 in. pile paint roller to cover 100 sq. ft. per Gal. on already white roofs

A: Frank, you can coat over an aluminum roof coating as long a the aluminum has had a year or so to weather and gas off the solvents in the product. Since this is the first coating of an acrylic coating you will need to apply two coats of Henry 287.

Q:I have a flat asphalt roof, can I use it directly on the asphalt? some asphalt look like sand, should I remove them first?

A: Young, by asphalt do you mean a flood coat of a tar like product or do you mean asphalt roll roofing? The part that looks like sand, is it the granules that have come loose? A: Duffy, your roof should be lightly pressure washed or with a hose that has a strong spray nozzle prior to the application of any coating. In order to get a good bond the roof must be clean and dry.

A: Mario, usually you can apply the second coat after the first coat feels dry to the touch. The drying times are affected by humidity and temperature. Low humidity and high temperature will significantly speed up the curing process.

Not worth my time or money

After a couple of weeks, the paint eroded off in San Francisco rains. Save yourself the hassle of recleaning, and use silicone sealer paint.

Works as Advertised!

I have central air in my mobile home, but the air conditioner couldn't cool the inside to a temperature that was cooler than the outdoor temperature without running continuously. I applied Henry's 287 to the roof of my mobile home today and for the first time this summer, the inside of my mobile home is cooler than the outside temperature! My air conditioner is running much less and the mobile home stays cool. Only time will tell if the product will last the advertised 7 years, but at this point, i have no reason to doubt that claim. Had I known this product worked, I probably would've used Henry's 887, which has a lifetime warranty.

Waste of money

24 hrs after application, not expecting rain, but it did rain and most of the product just ran off the roof, down the gutter and all over my driveway. White paint everywhere. It was dry to the touch last night and back to liquid state again today. It was applied to clean almost flat asphalt roll roofing, as per directions Not impressed and not sure what to do now.
