    A:  Rebar spacing of 18" = 7 boxes (100 ct box) Rebar spacing of 24" = 4 boxes (100 ct box)

                  Answer This Question

A:  I used #4 rebar (1/2 Inch) so No.3 rebar should be fine. these Rebar Chairs work great.

                  by|Nov 9, 2019

A:  Timothy, I pour concrete slab decking around pools and shoot and pour shotcrete for pool floors. These plastic chairs are far inferior to using cinder dobies which HD sells but only in certain parts of the country. As soon as a worker steps on rebar near the plastic chair the chair collapses. Replacing the chairs is difficult and time consuming. Also I use #57 stone base on all my pours and the plastic chair twists and turns sideways and sinks into the gravel. I am very careful to maintain a minimum 2" coverage of concrete both over and UNDER my slab or floor so that means I never pour using #3 rebar less than 5". If you can't get the HD cinder dobies then I would use cinder bricks broken in half. P.S I would love to purchase HD cinder dobies by the pallet.( Hint Hint HD) Regular bricks are not compatible to the concrete mix so don't use them although many do. Good luck!

A:  I would cut a short piece of rebar and carry it to the store and check fit. If Home Depot doesn't have any in stock, find any store that does, and if ok, then order from Home Depot. That is the only way to be sure of fit.

A:  They are designed for #4 and #5 rebar I believe, so # 3 will certainly fit, though not as snugly...an occasional wire tie would probably tighten everything up just fine.

A:  Rebar will be loose, but they should still work.

After wire tying all of my rebar together I installed 150 of these in no time for my new boat launch. Easily snaps right onto the rebar, and there's no questioning where the rebar is in my finished slab.

Easy to use. I still tied some of the junctions to keep it tight, but it probably isn't necessary.

                          concrete driveway project
The Rebar Chair that i purchased from The Home Depot was an exceptional value product. It saved me time and money. The rebar chair that i used for my concrete driveway project was a 3 inch chair , but is also available in two inch chairs, made the task of setting up the rebarbs in a cris-cross pattern mad it so simple and fast without the hassle of tying rebars together jus t press down and they were locked in place, to set 250 rebars on chairs took approximately 2 hours with two guys doing it , amazing product!
