Questions & Answers

Attached Pad?

Does this have attached pad?
Asked by: tylerbsu
No attached pad. You need to use a roll out product like whisper walk. Keeps the floating floor from tapping.

Just installed looks great but the smell. How long does it take for the fumes to disappear? What can I do to lessen the smell?
Asked by: Happysoon
The smell was never a problem for us. I believe the smell was gone in a week or two. Great floor..

My sample says Millstead and when I scan it, this product comes up,but this says it is Heritage Mill. Is this the same product? Please explain.

Asked by: Sprink
I believe this is the same flooring, and that one of the two is an older description. We had this wood first installed in our home a few years ago, and in other areas just recently. The older installation of the wood, and the current one both match, even though the names are different. On a side-note, please be aware that quarter-rounds, joiner strips and nose moldings will not match this color exactly, as they come from different manufacturers. Heritage Mill does make a nose molding that matches, but you need to request that up-front.

Oak Harvest 3/8 in. Thick x 4-1/4 in. Wide x Random Length Engineered Click Hardwood Flooring (20 sq. ft. / case) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 183.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Never going to bother refinishing floors & just install this! We installed this flooring in a 18' 5" x 15' room in about 6 hours. It is a breeze to install - the longest part was running down the stairs and cutting the last board and opening the boxes and sorting the pieces. We didn't have an issue with boxes only having small pieces. As with laying any flooring it is really important to open several boxes and mix the boards. Also, we noticed a few of the boxes had 'starter' boards - either left or right. We assume that there was a mistake at the factory and they threw them in the box. They are labeled on the bottom of the board. We used Unison 2 in l underlayment which was a breeze to use but will be using Johnson foam for the rest of the bedrooms since it is going over hardwood and we don't need the moisture barrier. We purchased 15 boxes and had almost a box left over. If you plan and layout the boards right you will have next to no drop. Our drop only filled four inches in a garbage can.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality control seriously needed Just for 100 Sq Ft, I had to buy 140 Sq Ft (7 cases) because many planks were shoddy. The backing of many had the last layer of ply with holes (more than an inch wide at times) and was badly serrated across the entire plank at times. The left or right edges were marred but I could use some as the starters by cutting off the unsightly ends. I did fill some with wood-filler and left overnight to dry. That way I could make some additional planks usable. Do keep in mind that I was not extremely picky otherwise I may have had to buy few more boxes :-( The frequency of marred top was not as bad as the bottom though many did have either small boils all over or small (size of a screw head) but deep dents. Both easily visible and unsightly to begin with. Picked up from Home Depot store directly. The bad planks were not limited to just one box. Cannot say if all the boxes came from same pallet. The floor does look good. There is no doubt about it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from "Kit" Makes Installation a "Snap" Do not believe Tarkett's installation instructions. This floor does not 'snap' together easily. But, you can use tools to make installation a 'snap.' You absolutely need to purchase a laminate flooring installation kit (I used Armstrong's DIY kit) to efficiently install this product. As Tarkett's instruction say, make sure the 'tongue' is completely in the 'groove' with no gaps. If the piece doesn't 'snap' into place -- over 90% of mine didn't -- use the laminate installation kit's tapping block or bar tool to gently 'tap' the pieces into place. When using the 'bar' be sure to hook it to the top edge of the flooring piece and NOT the groove. You'll know the flooring piece is in place when it drops flat & pulls tight to the row above it. Installation complications aside, I would definitely recommend this flooring to others. I installed about 400 SF in one weekend and love the way it looks. Tarkett could really save DIY-ers a lot of time and frustration by developing an 'Installation Kit' or recommending another company's kit. Based on the product reviews, I bet the product's ratings would improve if Tarkett were more considerate of its own consumers.

This product by far was the highest quality and easiest to install of all. Out of 12 boxes of flooring there were only 2 pieces that were not usable. I used the Roberts underlayment and the floor looks and feels great. Of course the next measure is durability which I cannot report on at this time. But at this point I would highly recommend the product.

Looks great. Made in the USA. If you compare this to the imports you will find that the finish veneer is twice as thick. I have used this to do nine different rooms with no complaints or issues. Highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It takes a little elbow grease I totally agree with JeaninIndiana's review. The flooring doesn't simply "snap" into place but rather you need to use the installation kit and some elbow grease. The tongue and grooves must be perfectly alligned but if not with the first try, can be easily realligned. The first couple of rows are the most difficult but become easier with the additional weight of the floor. Make sure to let the floor acclimate for a few days in the house before installing. We have had these floors in our family room for several years and added them to the dining room last year and now finally to the living room this year. Love the durability and look and love the value even more. We have 2 dogs and the floors do not show scratch marks from their claws. They clean easily with a steam mop without damaging the wood.
